Coutinho, Barkley, Perisic, Eriksen, and Barcelona Transfer News
Philippe Coutinho
If John Aren Riise is to be believed, Liverpool fans have every right to be chuffed at the latest from Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian took to e-mail to submit his transfer request amidst interest from Barcelona. The Catalan side will clearly want to replace the hole left by Neymar with quality, and Coutinho certainly fits the bill.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is anything but happy. Not only has his star player become outright supportive of leaving the club, and that he took to filing his request via e-mail, but the move comes on the eve on the club’s opening weekend.
Ross Barkley
Everton are said to be holding out for a cool £30m for Ross Barkley. Though the club have yet to receive any formal bids despite the player entering the final year of his contract, Spurs are said to be interested in the 23-year-old. Chelsea are also rumoured to be interested in acquiring his services, partly because of the homegrown factor.
Ronald Koeman is of the opinion that there is a very real chance that Barkley will leave Goodison Park this summer, but will not be held hostage to a last second swoop.
Christian Eriksen
With Liverpool playing coy over Philippe Coutinho, Barcelona are said to be looking at North London, specifically Tottenham. The club are looking at Christian Eriksen for a creative spark, with his potential link-up play being perfectly suited to life at Nou Camp.
With Tottenham having been silent thus far in the window, it would be hard to believe they would allow the Danish International to leave and break what was working last year.
Ivan Perisic
Football Italia are reporting that Barcelona are keen on Inter winger Ivan Perisic if they can’t land the highly-prized Ousmane Dembele. Having sold Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain for €222m, there is certainly money in the coffers to fund a move to the seemingly cheap €50m asking price for Perisic.
The Croatian was being sought by Manchester United, but the two sides were far apart on a a fee. With Borussia Dortmund suspending Dembele for missing training on Thursday, it appears the Catalan club might just be on the verge of landing that fish.
Ousmane Dembele
The post-Neymar money hasn’t been spent yet, but if Barcelona are indeed in hot pursuit of standout Dortmund player Ousmane Dembele, much of it will be. As noted, Dembele was suspended by his club for a missed practice on Thursday. The player wants to leave. Barcelona wants him. He wants Barcelona. Can Dortmund hold off that much longer? And rumours of Barcelona’s rival Real Madrid entering the race for Dembele started making the rounds.
