Robbie Muirhead: MK Dons Sign Promising Young Forward

Robbie Muirhead has signed for League One side MK Dons from Hearts of the Scottish Premier League. The forward joins up with former boss Robbie Neilson, who left Hearts to join the Dons last month.

The Dons have signed the highly-rated youngster for an undisclosed fee on a two-and-a-half year contract. With a talented left foot, he can play as a striker, behind the striker or on the left hand side of midfield.

Muirhead will be hoping that he is eligible for the local derby against Northampton this weekend. However, the deal is subject to international clearance, so he may have to wait until the fixture with Peterborough.

Robbie Muirhead started his career with Kilmarnock back in 2013, making his debut in the final game of the season. He replaced Cillian Sheridan in a 3-1 loss against St Mirren. Overall for Kilmarnock, he scored four goals in 42 appearances.

His potential led to him signing for Dundee United on transfer deadline day in 2015. He scored his first goal for Dundee in a 1-0 win over Aberdeen, before being loaned to fellow SPL side Partick Thistle. A further two goals there, this time in only eight appearances, led to him returning to Dundee, where he was released from his contract.

In June 2016, Muirhead signed a 1-year deal with Hearts, where he only scored twice. Both goals came in a 2-0 win over Rangers on 30th November. Just seven months into his Hearts contract though, he has followed previous manager Robbie Neilson to Buckinghamshire to gain his first experience of English football.

Neilson is slowly beginning to make his mark at Stadium MK. Some changes have taken place in the backroom staff, while Samir Carruthers was allowed to join Sheffield United. Additionally, the majority of the loan players have been sent back to their parent clubs.

Neilson has said that he plans to bring in at least two more players before the window shuts at the end of the month, but has given no indication as to who they may be.
