5 Indian Cricketers That Have Surprised Everyone in IPL 2020
After much delay and deliberation, this year’s edition of IPL began in the UAE on 19th September, with no in-person attendance. The IPL is providing a much-needed distraction for cricket fans in the current scenario, and it is after months, that a major league tournament is being organized. Fans are glued to their mobile or TV screens to catch the live cricket scores and be a part of the action.
This season is almost halfway through, and there have already been some scintillating performances, especially by some young Indian players, who are looking to make a mark on the big stage and earn a spot in the national team.
Let’s have a look at the top 5 surprise Indian packages in this year’s IPL so far.
New signing alert! 👦🏻

Back again with the Rajasthan Royals, his debut team in the IPL, Rahul Tewatia has already made a mark in this year’s IPL with his hard-hitting. Since his debut in 2014, he had some mediocre outings in the subsequent seasons. But the 2020 edition has been a pleasant departure from that.
In an old tweet, Tewatia had said `Keep the faith. The most amazing things in life happen right at the moment when you are about to give up hope´. And this was exactly what happened with his performance against the Kings XI. With RR needing 51 runs to win off the last 3 overs, Tewatia hit Sheldon Cottrell for 5 sixes in the 18th over and turned the match on its head, handing an impossible victory to the Royals. He repeated his winning performance again, against the SRH, scoring 45 of 28 balls and putting up a match-winning partnership with Riyan Parag.

Rising up from extreme poverty, T Natarajan has proved that with determination and hard work, nothing can stop you from succeeding. First picked up by the Kings XI in 2017 for 3 crores, he proved to be an expensive buy, picking up just 2 wickets in the 6 games he played for the franchise. He was later bought by the SRH in 2018 but did not get a chance to play until the current season.
He has now shown how he has matured over the years and has rattled many a batsman with his death bowling. Natarajan was instrumental in SRH’s victory over the DC where he bowled some great yorkers in the 14th and the 18th over, conceding just 25 runs off his 4 overs, picking up the wicket of in-form Stoinis.
With a spell like that, there's no guessing who the Man of the Match is! 😍

Varun made his debut in the IPL with Kings XI in 2019, when he was bought for 8.4 crores by the franchise. He however went on to make the dubious record of conceding the highest number of runs by a bowler on debut, giving away 25 runs in his first over. He was released at the end of the season and picked up by the KKR for IPL 2020.
Known for his quirky action, similar to Ajantha Mendis, Varun played the nemesis for his old team in their match against KKR this season. Secondly, bowling in tandem with Sunil Narine, he choked the Kings, drying up the runs, and handed an improbable 2 run victory to the team. Finally, it was similar to their performance against the CSK, where again he had bowled tightly and got the prized wicket of MSD.

On the flat dry pitches of the UAE, which have largely favored the batsmen so far, Washington has bowled 51 dot balls and has an astonishing economy rate of just 4.9 runs per over.
He has impressed everyone with his off-breaks since his debut and has consistently been economical throughout the seasons he has played so far. He played a big role in RCB’s huge 82 run victory against the KKR by scalping Nitesh Rana and the all-important wicket of Eoin Morgan and giving away just 20 runs in his 4 overs.
Lovely to see this 💛
Imran Tahir giving Riyan Parag a masterclass after their game in Abu Dhabi
— ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) October 24, 2020
Playing his second consecutive season for the RR, Riyan Parag had already made a name for himself in 2019, by becoming the youngest player to score a half-century in the IPL. And in this season, he has helped the RR to break their chain of 4 consecutive losses. Lauded richly by the skipper, and rightly so, Riyan scored a terrific 42 off 26 balls, putting up an unbeaten partnership of 85 runs with Tewatia. Finishing off the match in style with a huge six, Riyan broke into an impromptu Bihu dance.
These are the top 5 Indian cricketers that have surprised everyone with their performances at Dream 11 IPL 2020.
