RR vs DC Preview: The context
Firstly, in this article we will be going over the RR vs DC preview, choosing the likely 11’s and also making a predictions as to who we think will win.
In the 23rd match of IPL 2020, Rajasthan Royals are back at Sharjah where they got off to a flier, winning two in two and scoring in access of 200. As they moved onto the bigger grounds in Dubai and Abu Dhabi their campaign has derailed spectacularly which has seen them lose 3 games in 3.

In what will be their last outing at Sharjah, Rajasthan will hope to gain some momentum. They will need to put their best possible effort as they take on a well rounded team in Delhi Capitals who have 4 wins in 5 games and sit at the number two spot on the points table.
Precarious position

Secondly, the Royals stand at a very delicate juncture, a win will take them to 5th spot and a loss will mean they will be left to play a lot of do or die at the business end of the league. Jos Butler’s finding form will give them a lot of confidence and if Sanju Samson and Steven Smith can get back among the runs, it will boost the morale of the entire team.

Like a lot of other teams in this year’s IPL, the Royals have a thin middle order and might be tempted to try David Miller at the expense of Tom Curran who has taken just 3 wickets and conceding at well over 10 runs per over. Leaving out Curran would mean that there will be added pressure on the Indian contingent of bowlers to deliver along with the Jofra Archer. Varun Aaron may also get a game as a replacement for Ankit Rajpoot.
A settled unit

Unlike the Royals who are yet to figure out their best eleven, Delhi Capitals have a very settled looking squad. There’s hardly any player in their camp who hasn’t contributed. The South African pace duo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje seem to have a healthy competition between them to outdo each other while every Delhi batsman has made significant contributions in one game or the other.

In addition, such is their squad depth that even after losing the veteran Amit Mishra to injury, they didn’t have to name a replacement as Axar Patel has filled the void beautifully.
Head to head: 11-9 in favour of RR
Last five: 2-3 Delhi

RR vs DC Preview: Prediction

Despite Rajasthan’s love affair with Sharjah, it’s tough to go against the Capitals who simply have more match winners in their squad. They are perhaps a much stronger squad overall. As a result, they have the edge.
The venue is relatively small. As a result, it should make for a high-scoring encounter. Both sides have scored over 200 every innings that they have played at this venue in Dream 11 IPL 2020.
