RCB vs DC Match Preview

In this article, we will have a look at today’s game, RCB vs DC and preview how the match could go.

After Virat Kohli finally coming to the party with a sublime 72* against the Rajasthan Royals, RCB looks like a well jelled team. Everyone has chipped in with some significant contributions at crucial junctures in their 2020 campaign so far, which saw them take the pole position on Saturday. The stay at the top was pretty short lived as the Capitals soared to the top after their win against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the evening clash.

In the batting department Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers has atleat one half century to their name. Padikkal’s impressive returns at the top along with Finch will certainly inspire a lot of confidence within the team who have relied heavily on Kohli and AB de Villiers for last few seasons.

RCB’s infamous bowling has also come good this season with Saini leading the pace attack and duly complemented by their star leggie Chahal who is among the top leading wicket takers in the tournament so far. The addition of Udana to the playing eleven to partner Saini seems to have solved their death bowling woes, atleast for now.

The only area of concern for RCB would be the batting that follows ABD. Shivam Dube has contributed with the bat once against Mumbai Indians but barring that innings the lower order either didn’t get to bat or have failed to deliver. The game against Punjab when RCB were bowled out for a paltry 109 being one such case.

Delhi Capitals on the other hand are one of the most balanced team in the league. Shaw, Dhawan, Iyer and Pant have all come good when the situation has demanded. When it comes to bowling, they boast of variations of all sorts at their disposal with the likes of Rabada, Nortje and Amit Mishra who have struck at crunch moments while being miserly. Ravi Ashwin’s return in the last game after the injury sustained earlier only adds more variation to the squad.

From the pre-match buildup

He played magnificently. He had a fantastic season for Karnataka and once we identified that, we thought there was a role for him at the top of the order. It’s great to see his partnership with (Aaron) Finch. It gave us a great platform for the rest of the innings. He was outstanding in the field too. He took a brilliant catch to get rid of Jos Buttler. Padikkal is a very talented youngster and has a bright future and we are seeing the start of it here in IPL.

The in-form opening pair of Padikkal and Finch followed by two super stars of modern game in Kohli and ABD against top class pace duo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje should make for an enticing contest. Unless there’s an individual brilliance from one of RCB’s heavyweights it is just tough to go against a well-rounded side like Capitals. DC to bag the two points on offer.
