So as we get closer to what is one of the most awaited cricketing events of the year, the IPL, let us have a look at how in IPL 2020 the probable playing 11 and team line-ups of CSK, DC, KXIP and KKR could look like.

Note: These IPL 2020 probable playing 11 for the teams are made according to the players’ availability as off 10th September 2020.

1. Squad Analysis – Chennai Super Kings:

How can CSK replace Suresh Raina, now that he unavailable due to personal reasons at the IPL 2020 in the UAE?

Starting off with the three-time champions CSK, the yellow army has a couple of issues to solve after regular starters Raina and sole off-spinner Harbhajan opting out of the season.

Still, when you have a Dhoni-Fleming duo, you never know what you’re about to witness.

With no replacements for the veterans named yet, this is how they can possibly line up for the season:

IPL 2020 Probable Playing 11 – CSK

Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, Faf Du Plessis, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Piyush Chawla and Imran Tahir.

With no left-handers in top-4, Sam Curran might get utilized in there as well but seeing the MahiWay of going with experience, Faf has an edge.

The other possible difference we might see would be Ruturaj Gaikwad/Murali Vijay in for Piyush Chawla to extend the batting line up with Rayudu coming in at 4. Lungi Ngidi might also play, depending on the balance of the team.

2. Squad Analysis – Delhi Capitals:

So from the South, let’s move on to the North. Talking about the Delhi Capitals, they have a good blend of young blood and some experience here and there.

Ignoring the fact that there still is a loophole at number 6, the side looks fairly good on the paper with good options at the top.

After Chris Woakes and Jason Roy pulling out and being replaced by Anrich Nortje and Englishman Dan Sams, the side adds some good options to the bench.

This is how DC’s starting XI could look like:

IPL 2020 Probable Playing 11 – DC

Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Shemron Hetmyer, Keemo Paul, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Ishant Sharma, Sandeep Lamichhane.

With so many options for the top order, the trio of Rahane, Carey and Stoinis looks like to miss out from the starting XI.

Pant and Hetmyer can play as the floaters according to the requirements. If these two southpaws get going, they could cause destruction.

With the inclusion of R Ashwin, the Indian with highest IPL wicket count, Amit Mishra also might not get much of game time.

With these problems of plenty and a hole at 6, it is going to be interesting to see how they go.

3. Squad Analysis – Kings XI Punjab:

From one northern side to another, now we talk about the explosive looking KXIP.

After letting their skipper (R Ashwin) go to DC in the trade, this is going to be the first time that KL Rahul leads an IPL side. How he will handle the pressure will be interesting to see. Captaincy, wicket keeping and opening the batting.

With Glenn Maxwell coming back and inclusion of Jimmy Neesham, Chris Jordan and Sheldon Cottrell, this is going to be exciting to see how they go with the overseas players.

This is how the Punjab based franchise could line up:

KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, Mandeep Singh/Sarfaraz Khan, K Gowtham, Chris Jordan/Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, Md.Shami, Ishan Porel, Ravi Bishnoi.

The other possibilities of fitting in Sheldon Cottrell or both Jordan and Mujeeb, we might also see the entertainer, Chris Gayle also getting benched.

With lots of quality in overseas quota, the kiwi, James Neesham also looks like one who might not get much of game time with the reds.

4. Squad Analysis – Kolkata Knight Riders:

The two time winners, KKR, after letting few of their biggest names in Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa and Piyush Chawla go, did some fine business on the auction table.

Bringing back Eoin Morgan and grabbing Tom Banton, Chris Green and Pat Cummins, they also took care of domestic names and bought in Rahul Tripathi.

Having a mixed bag of exciting young talent and good quality experience, this is how they can form a formidable XI for the season:

IPL 2020 Probable Playing 11 – KKR

Rahul Tripathi, Sunil Narine, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Kamlesh Nagarkoti/Shivam Mavi.

Biggest positive for KKR this season seems like inclusion of England’s white-ball captain, Eoin Morgan.

Homecoming of Morgan will be a huge help to skipper Dinesh Karthik in decision making and will also condense pressure from Russell’s shoulders to finish the games.

Also with Prasidh Krishna doing well for couple of seasons, only one of the U19 World Cup winners from 2018 (Nagarkoti and Mavi) look like breaking into the XI.

So this was a short preview on the IPL 2020 probable playing 11 of the first four sides (alphabetically), CSK, DC, KXIP and KKR might look like.

Stay tuned for the preview on likely XIs of remaining four sides (MI, RR, RCB and SRH).

Until then have a great time and keep the excitement for the season building higher and higher.
