England Name T20 And ODI Squad To Face Australia
England have named their white-ball squads for both the upcoming one-day and T20 series with the old enemy Australia. The series begins on Friday with the first T20 match at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton.
The England Test captain Joe Root has been left out of the T20 squad to face Australia for the three-game series but has been included in the one-day squad.
Chris Woakes is also ommitted from the shortest format but included in the 50 over squad, whilst others who have played in the Tests this summer; Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, and Mark Wood are included in both squads.
England will be hoping that their T20 squad gains further solid preparation in the series against Australia. The World T20 is likely to take place in 2021. England look strong favourites to lift the trophy.
They will be looking to iron out any chinks still left in their squad. Australia could pose a tougher challenge then Pakistan. This will be welcome to England. The hosts will hope that the visitors can push them all the way. A close series is also great for the fans.
Absentees

One glaring absence is that of Ben Stokes. The all-rounder who missed the last two Tests against Pakistan to be beside his family and his ill father in New Zealand, remains unavailable.
Jason Roy remains sidelined with an injury. Ollie Pope misses out after damaging his shoulder in the last Test against Pakistan.
Bowlers Reece Topley, David Willey, and Liam Dawson miss out from the one-day squad that faced Ireland, with batsman James Vince also omitted following a disappointing series.
Both Kent batsman Joe Denly and young Lancashire bowler Saqib Mahmood are demoted to reserves for the Australia series.
Yorkshireman Willey should count himself a little unlucky as he and all-rounder Lewis Gregory drop out of the T20 squad that is currently facing Pakistan, while Mahmood again drops to the reserves.

The three one-day internationals start on the 11 September, following the completion of the T20 series. The second game will be taking place on Sunday the 6th of September. It will be shown live on the BBC.
