Though Malan may not be able to make the T20 side ahead of Joe Root or Jason Roy, he is likely to be very much in the reckoning. His preferred spot is opening the batting but he can also slot in at three or four. This means that he is versatile. As a result, there are much more chances that he will be in the squad, as he can fill in for multiple slots.
