The England cricket team and the ECB must be lauded for their efforts

There are lot of uncertainties involved in conducting an international cricket series. Especially post such an unprecedented pandemic that continues to create damage across the globe.

England Cricket must be lauded for the efforts they have taken to ensure that the bio-secure bubble is maintained and all safety measures were taken in order to make sure the series against the Windies went out smoothly.

Pakistan challenges awaits the England cricket team

After the successful completion of the England-Windies series, one thing is certain- England as a team are peaking at the right time.

Stuart Broad answered his critics in the best possible way. He was the star of the series apart from Ben ‘Superman’ Stokes. His ten wicket haul at Old Trafford, Manchester, ensured that England won the series.

Now Pakistan are on their shores for a three match Test series starting on August 5th, 2020 followed by a three match T20I series.

A team that was struggling to find their feet under the new leadership/management with Misbah-Ul- Haq as their coach, would hope that the prolonged break from the game would bring in a renewed energy that can help them perform better.

One would also want to see what Fawad Alam can bring to the the squad as he’s been an amazing contributor in the domestic scene in the past few years.

Their bowling is slightly inexperienced. However, all eyes would be on their spinners Yasir Shah and Shadab Khan.

Planning to play two spinners at Manchester says Pakistan coach Misbah-Ul-Haq

Misbah said, “I think the pitch looks like the way it was against West Indies. And we saw that spinners had a role from day one in that test.

We will consider [two spinners] it too. We’ll take a look at the wicket today and tomorrow. Also the weather conditions and then decide. There is a definite possibility and also an encouraging sign.”

Pakistan have three spinners – Yasir Shah, Shadab Khan and Kashif Bhatti – in their 20-man squad announced for the Test. Misbah believes that Pakistan have a “good chance” if they play to potential.

The IPL

For all the fans who watch or have views on the game mainly due to the IPL, they can cheer up as in about 44-45 days time, all their favourite stars will be back playing for their favourite franchises. The only catch being that it is going to be staged in UAE and with minimal crowds in the stadium.

The UAE has a much lower number of coronavirus cases than India. It is seen as a safe venue to host the IPL. The pitches will likely be slow. As a result, spin could play a massive part, even more so than in India.

So, who are you backing in the test match series between England Cricket and Pakistan?
