The Talented West Indies Cricket Players

West Indies Cricket Players have always played with both talent and flair in the past. Remember Brian Lara and Sir Viv Richards?

The West Indies are scheduled to tour England, to start the summer. The first test match starts on the 8th of July at The Rose Bowl Cricket Ground.

They have some exciting young players such as Shimron Hetmyer and Rakheem Cornwall. However, we must ask, who are the top 3 West Indies Cricket players to watch out for?

Shai Hope – #1 rated of West Indies Cricket Players

Shai Hope could be a massive player in the upcoming series between England and West Indies. This, despite his poor form in the last two years. In the last two years, he is averaging only 20.42 – with the highest score of only 67.

However, the last time that West Indies toured England in 2017, Shai Hope scored 375 runs in just 3 matches. He scored a lot of those runs in difficult conditions as well, with the ball seaming and swinging. His twin centuries at Headingley has been the highlight of his Test career to date. He remains the only cricketer in first-class cricket to score a century in each innings at Headingley.

He will be hoping to emulate his 2017 form against perhaps his favourite opposition.

Arguably, the most underrated wicketkeeper-batsman in the world. Shane Dowrich has represented the West Indies in test match cricket in the last five years. However, injuries recently have not allowed his career to flourish.

Shane Dowrich had a poor tour of England in 2017. He will attempt to correct his misfortunes of 2017 with a good series in 2020. His overall average in test cricket is 30.08. However, he has averaged a healthy 49.20 in the last 12 months with the highest score 116 not out against England.

Kemar Roach single-handedly changed the course of the game the last time England was in the West Indies. He took a scintillating 5 for 17 first game of the series to bundle England out for just 77 runs at Bridgetown in 2019. The West Indies managed to win that game comprehensively by 381 runs.

Kemar Roach averages 31.68 against England with the ball. However, the last time England toured the West Indies he picked up taken 13 wickets in just 2 matches. The conditions in England are likely to suit his style of bowling. He often moves wide of the crease, angling the bowl in, before nipping it away. This could become difficult to play for the English batters – if there is prodigious seam and swing movement on offer.

These are our top three West Indies cricket players to look out for during the test series versus England, starting on the 8th of July.
