More specifically, the fact that the men’s program, the school with the most wins in college basketball history, seemingly can’t get top players to come here. However, it’s been just the opposite with the football program. Since Will Stein took the job replacing Mark Stoops after 13 years, the football Cats have been on quite a roll. In fact, they’re currently among the top schools in the country. Let’s introduce you to some of the new Cats and where the school ranks overall as we look at Kentucky’s 2027 Recruiting Roll Continues

Kentucky’s 2027 Recruiting Roll Continues

Moving Up The Charts

Currently, the Wildcats have 14 commitments for 2027, which puts them 11th in the country according to 247 Sports. In addition, they sit fourth in the SEC, trailing only Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Florida. Stein has 12 three-star pledges and two four-stars. At least one of those could end up being a five-star player. If you go through history, Kentucky’s only had a handful of them throughout its history. Now that we’ve shown you how the Cats look on the charts, let’s introduce you to some of the players with Kentucky’s 2027 recruiting roll continues.

A Top Quarterback

Jake Nawrot committed to the Wildcats back on April 12th. Hailing from John Hershey High School in Arlington Park, Illinois, Narwot ranks as the fourth-best player in Illinois and the fifth-best quarterback in the nation. As a junior, the six-foot-three, 200-pound Nawrot threw for 3,078 yards and 41 touchdowns. His passing yards set a school record while his touchdown total led the state of Illinois. In addition, he completed 71 percent of his passes. As if that wasn’t enough, he also ran for 124 yards and eight touchdowns. All this is coming in his first year of being a starter. He’ll compete at the Elite 11 Finals this summer.

The Cats beat out perceived favorite Iowa for Nawrot’s services. After all, his father, Paul, was a former walk-on linebacker who played for Hayden Fry from 1995 to 1997. In addition, his sister Leah is on the Iowa rowing team. Despite all of that, Stein and offensive coordinator Joe Sloan were able to secure the commitment after visiting during spring practice.

If you are going to have an elite quarterback, you need someone elite to throw him the ball. The Cats picked up someone who fits that bill as Kentucky’s 2027 recruiting roll continues.

An Elite Receiver

Stein’s motto for offense is “Feed The Studs.” Quite simply, you get great players, get them the ball, and let them make great plays. On Saturday, the Wildcats did just that. Iveon Lewis, a wide receiver from Richmond, Virginia, announced he was heading to Lexington. The 6′-2″, 200-pound Lewis picked Kentucky over Georgia, Maryland, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech.

Lets Workkkkk https://t.co/SHCxN7d5zH

— iveon lewis 4⭐️ (@gocrazzy0) May 9, 2026

247 Sports ranks him as the second-ranked receiver in Virginia and the eighth-best player overall. In addition, he’s the 48th-best wide receiver in that nation. Playing for Hugenot High School, Lewis hauled in 42 passes for 1,046 yards and 12 touchdowns. Furthermore, he averaged a whopping 24.9 yards per catch. He earned Class 4A All-State Honors.

As we continue talking about how Kentucky’s 2027 Recruiting Roll continues, let’s look at a big get on the other side of the ball.

Big Time Defender

Safety Marquis Bryant committed to Kentucky shortly after visiting for the spring game. A four-star safety, Bryant originally pledged to North Carolina. However, he reopened his recruitment and ultimately chose the Cats over Auburn and Tennessee. The 6′-0″, 190-pounder is from Rolesville, North Carolina. Currently, 247Sports lists him as the 191st-best player in the nation, the ninth-best player in North Carolina, and the 18th-best safety in the nation.

Last season as a junior, Bryant had 32 tackles, seven interceptions, and two forced fumbles. He helped lead his squad to a 9-4 record and the third round of North Carolina’s Class 8A playoffs. His flip to Kentucky now gives them two top 200 players.

Final Thoughts

There’s no doubt that Stein and the Wildcat staff have hit the ground running for the 2027 class. Currently sitting with a Top 15 class, the Wildcats are poised to move up even more. Kentucky’s on the short list for a number of big time prospects. In addition, they’ll be hosting several more top recruits over the next few weeks.
