The Huskers currently hold one defensive line commitment in the 2027 recruiting cycle. Three-star prospect Jayden Travers pledged to NU last December over the Michigan Wolverines and Miami Hurricanes. This is a good prospect for defensive line coach Corey Brown to mold early in his tenure. But in order to gain even more momentum on the recruiting trail, Nebraska has to impress four-star defensive lineman Nehemiah Ombati. The 6′-2″, 275-pounder is the number two player in Minnesota, and the 35th-ranked player in the entire class. He’s also made a significant impact on the field as well. In his junior season at Shakopee High School, Ombati had 70 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. It might be hard for Nebraska to beat out Missouri. As of right now, the Tigers are considered the early leader in his recruitment.<\/p>\n
Rob Dvoracek’s position group has the depth it needs with\u00a0 Owen Chambliss<\/a> from San Diego State and Dexter Foster from Oregon State. The Cornhuskers also get Vincent Shavers<\/a> back for his junior season. But what about the high school ranks? This is where Matthew Brady comes in. The 6′-4″, 220-pound linebacker has been established as one of the program’s top targets. The first addition was Maurice Purify II. The Omaha Westside product has a good frame at 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds. He also brings more playmaking ability to Nebraska’s receiving corps. As a senior with the Warriors, Purify had 589 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Illinois wideout Jamari Brown also fits the same mold. But the Cornhuskers aren’t done with adding playmakers. Nebraska is currently projected to earn the commitment of four-star wideout Matthew Gregory. The 93rd overall player in the 2027 cycle is set to visit Lincoln on June 19. The Louisiana native has visited the Cornhuskers five times and is returning for a final time before shutting down his recruitment.
