That is the marquis game of the weekend. GameDay will be live from Eugene on Saturday morning as the Hoosiers and Ducks battle for their place at the top of the Big Ten. Indiana, Oregon, top of the Big Ten? Pinch me. Next, you’re going to tell me that Mid-Game James Franklin lost to a bad UCLA team. That’s another story. Indiana and Oregon are also going to heavily influence our Week 6 Heisman poll. Somebody pinch me!

Week 6 Heisman Poll

The Last Word on College Football braintrust has spoken. Let’s get to our Week 6 Heisman list. We’ve also charted which players’ stocks are on the rise and which are slipping.

Fanduel Week 6 Heisman Odds

Before we get to our list, let’s check out our FanDuel Sportsbook odds:

Dante Moore +500

Carson Beck +600

Ty Simpson =750

Jeremiah Smith +850

John Mateer +1000

Fernado Mendoza +1400

#5 Jeremiah Smith, WR, The Ohio State University (⬇️ 3)

The quarterbacks are taking over. Jeremiah Smith is falling in our Week 6 Heisman Poll. We know it’s probably more QB bias than anything else. Smith has a big opportunity to make some noise this week as the Buckeyes head to Champaign to take on the Illini. The Buckeye receiver has had a good year, but has not truly had that breakout, wow performance in 2025. Smith has 35 receptions on the season for 463 yards and six touchdowns.

#4 Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama (⬆️ 1)

Ty Simpson continues to climb our poll. Simpson led the Tide last week in an important win over Vanderbilt. Yes, Vanderbilt is a big win in the SEC, my how times have changed. Simpson’s stats and Alabama’s win looked big on paper. He threw for 340 yards and two touchdowns, completing 23-of-31 passes in the Tide’s 30-14 win. Looking beyond the stat line, you saw a quarterback overcome throwing an interception on the first drive of the game and making enough plays to make sure Diego Pavia and the Dores didn’t pull off an upset for the second year in a row. If the Tide can piece together a semblance of a running game and combine with Simpson’s maturity, we could see Alabama in Atlanta and making a deep run in the playoffs this year.

#3 Fernando Mendoza, QB, Indiana (⬆️ 1)

We feel like we need the ‘Grim Reaper knocking on the door’ meme for the Hoosiers this year, well, really, the last two years. But after playing an SEC-cupcake non-conference slate, Indiana has shown it can win big and ugly. The Hoosiers head to Eugene this week in their toughest test of the season. How crazy is it that in back-to-back weeks, College GameDay has gone to games where the road opponents are Vanderbilt and Indiana? Fernando Mendoza has been a big reason for the Hoosiers’ success this year. The Cal Transfer has stepped in and carried on the legacy from the Maple Missile last year. Mendoza has been lights out in 2025. Through five games, he’s sitting near the top nationally with a 197.8 passer rating, 16 touchdowns, and a 73% completion rate. He’s thrown for 1,208 yards and still hasn’t tossed an interception.

#2 Carson Beck, QB, Miami “The U” Hurricanes (NC)

Have Carson Beck and Mario Cristobal brought “The U” back? It sure seems that way. The Canes have passed all their tests, dispatching Notre Dame, Florida, and Florida State this year. We can add South Florida to the list and place the order for their State Championship rings as well. Miami should be favored in the rest of their regular season games this year and be able to punch their ticket for the ACC Championship game in Charlotte. Beck is a good quarterback and consistently performs well. Look at his stats as a starter the last three years as a starter:

2023 (Georgia):70.9% completion percentage, 1,195 passing yards, 6 passing touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and 1 rushing touchdown

2024 (Georgia):65.8% completion percentage, 1,359 yards, 12 TDs, three INTs

2025 (Miami):73.4%, 1,213 yards, 11 TDs, three INTs

As more eyes come on the Canes, the biggest question will be if Cristobal and Beck can continue to shine? That was always the question when Beck was in Athens, and we’ve been asking that for a long time about Cristobal’s teams. A stout Miami defense will surely help if either stumbles.

#1 Dante Moore, QB, Oregon Ducks (NC)

Let’s get Ducky. Dante Moore is looking to follow in Marcus Mariota’s footsteps to become the second Duck quarterback to win a Heisman Trophy. Through five games, Moore has been sharp. He’s completing 74.6% of his passes, which ranks fifth nationally. He’s thrown for 1,210 yards and 14 touchdowns with just one interception — efficient, confident, and exactly what Oregon’s offense needs to stay rolling. Looks for the Ducks to continue their undefeated conference streak against the Hoosiers.

Main Image: Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Indiana vs. Oregon.
