In Week One against Texas, it was “Scarlet the Shoe,” where all of the fans were instructed to wear the school’s primary color. Last week, there was no theme for the fans against Grambling State. Now, under the lights against the Ohio Bobcats, Ohio State is set to unveil the “Helmet Stripe Game.”

Initially, we thought the idea was going to be, “most of the stadium, on the north and south ends, will be decked out in gray/silver, while the sections on the 50-yard line will be scarlet with white sections on either side.” As it turns out, that prediction was a little off the mark. Instead, the official Ohio State Football Twitter account posted a short video portraying the vision:

𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 in the 👟 Saturday 🌰 pic.twitter.com/yTkIINdqEx

— Ohio State Football (@OhioStateFB) September 9, 2025

Ohio State Announces “Helmet Stripe Game” For Fans vs. Ohio

Instead of our vision that mimicked what Penn State has done, Ohio State will do something a little different. Everyone in the Horseshoe portion of the stadium will wear gray, while the seats in the south end of the stadium will have specific colors.

So, if your tickets have you in section AA, A1-A30, B1-B28, C, or D, you’ll be suiting up in the Buckeyes’ secondary color of gray.

If you’re sitting in a seat in sections A31-A34 or B31-B34, black is the expectation.

Folks sitting in sections A35, A36, B35, and B36 will be asked to wear white.

Finally, the scarlet section of the helmet stripe game will be those in sections A37, A38, A39, B37, B38, and B39.

Of all of the traditions out there, this one looks to be one or more unique. Everyone loves a scarlet-out, white-out, black-out, or any variation thereof. In the past, there has been pushback from more established Ohio State fans regarding these requests. Specifically, older fans don’t like the black aspect, arguing that black isn’t an official color of the program.

Considering gray is one of the official colors, there should be little issue here. The south end of the stadium is usually filled with students. If the students cooperate, it’ll be a very unique look that will provide an awesome atmosphere for the Buckeyes.

Main Image: Mark J.
