Some of you may remember that four years ago, we started a new Friday morning feature with tailgate recipes to help with your weekend of football. As we count down to the kickoff of the 2025 season, we will be doing a recap of the past seasons. \u00a0If you are new to our site the next few weeks we will recap the last several seasons’ recipes. \u00a0The week of the first games, there will be some brand-new recipes for you to try. Hope you find some Tasty Tailgate Treats to use this season.<\/p>\n
In 2021, we kicked off with several recipes submitted by die-hard college football fans. Our first recipe was my very own \u00a0Coach Kate’s Kickoff Chili<\/a>. It is great for large crowds. Usually better later in the season when it is a little cooler outside, but tasty nonetheless. We also had a loyal Vanderbilt fan submission of Tailgate Crack<\/a>. \u00a0This was a sought-after recipe that is a tasty staple on West End. We had Wayne’s Tortellini Salad<\/a> from a Florida State fan who travels from Nashville to Tallahassee to tailgate for every home game for the last 20 years. \u00a0This salad would be great for kickoff weekend, it is cold and tasty, perfect for the heatwave we have been having this summer. We had the pleasure of getting a recipe submission from football royalty. Vince Lombardi’<\/strong>s grandson, John Lombardi<\/strong> sent me a brat recipe<\/a> that has changed the way I cook brats forever.<\/p>\n Need to have a meal during a game, not just snacks here are some Spinach and Caramelized Onion Sliders<\/a> to feed your hungry crowd. \u00a0How about a chicken sandwich with Alabama White Sauce<\/a>? I had never heard of Alabama White sauce before this recipe, but it is now a staple in my fridge. Another meal option is Root Beer BBQ Pulled Pork,<\/a> easy to eat on the go in a Hawaiian Roll with a little cole slaw… YUMMY. A great snack you can make any time the week leading up to the tailgate is War Damn Eagle Spicy Pretzels<\/a>. Who doesn’t love a good spicy treat to help wash the morning beer down? \u00a0Alabama Crackers<\/a> are a simple treat that is the perfect snack for all tailgate parties at the game or at home.<\/p>\n Does everyone grab a bag of chips when they head to a tailgate party? Most people do. They are easy, cheap, and help feed the crowd. \u00a0So you need a large variety of dips<\/a> for all those chips. \u00a0Also, how many corn dips do you need for football season? ALL of them! Here is a smattering of Corn Dips<\/a>, hot and cold. What is your favorite chip and dip combo during the season?<\/p>\n We like any excuse to do a little day drinking, and college football offers us that excuse for just a few short months. You can attempt to Drink Like Champions<\/a> on gameday. You can celebrate with Lane Kiffin<\/strong> and Ole Miss weekly with a variety of Hot Toddy recipes<\/a>. Once fall hits and leads into Winter, you have to stay warm at the tailgate parties; you will need some Toasty Tailgate Beverages<\/a>. \u00a0Don’t fret, all of these beverages can be made to be kid-friendly.<\/p>\n Next Friday, I will recap season one, part two: the appetizers, sweet treats, and an ABSOLUTE MUST at every tailgate, a FOOTBALL-SHAPED snack!
