In a black suit and bowtie, Coleman was wearing a new chain and pendant, along with new grills. The pendant featured his \u201cJC1\u201d logo that he\u2019ll be using for his brand. Coleman is coming off a 1,000-yard season for the Huskies and will be the feature tailback in a backfield with two other weapons.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Jonah Coleman&#8217;s Podium at Big Ten Media Days<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Thoughts on the Offensive Line<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThey hang around each other all the time,\u201d Coleman said about his Husky offensive line. \u201cWe got older guys in there that are leading the room, and taking young guys under their wing.\u201d A season ago, the Washington offensive line was not fully constructed until very late in the offseason, and Coleman talked about how that made offensive chemistry difficult.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt was kind of an issue like when you don\u2019t really know your teammate, and you guys aren\u2019t really close, like on a deeper level. I feel like it can kind of hurt you in the long run.\u201d It wasn\u2019t a knock on last year\u2019s group, but rather an observation on how little time the offensive line had to create that bond. \u201cI didn\u2019t meet my starting center last year until June,\u201d Coleman said. \u201cWe didn\u2019t practice together until August.\u201d Referring to center <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/dangalo-titialii-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">D\u2019Angalo Titialii<\/a>, who committed to Washington in the Spring from the transfer portal, but didn&#8217;t arrive on campus until the Summer. Coleman acknowledged how important it is to have cohesion in the trenches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c[On the] O-Line you have to all be connected,\u201d he said. \u201cOne wrong step can lead to something bad.\u201d The group this year returns <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/drew-azzopardi-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Drew Azzopardi<\/a> at right tackle who has over 1,200 career snaps. It also boasts the experience of Landen and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/geirean-hatchett-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Geirean Hatchett<\/a> at center and guard respectively, and added <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/carver-willis-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carver Willis<\/a> from Kansas State to fit at left tackle. Willis has over 1,200 career snaps himself. Paki Finau seems like he\u2019ll be the best bet at the other guard spot, but the Huskies have significant depth at the position, including a couple of true freshmen who will very likely rotate in this season. \u201c[Their chemistry] is only going to help us in the long run,\u201d Coleman concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Recalling the 2022 Arizona Class<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coleman thought back to the 2022 recruiting class at Arizona, a group that ranked inside the top 25 nationally. Eight of those recruits now play at Washington, and Coleman spoke to the bond those players had in Tucson and how there\u2019s a similar group chemistry in Seattle.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI feel like when we were at Arizona it was similar because we spent a lot of time together, we went through a lot of hardships [together],\u201d Coleman began. \u201cWhen you go through hard stuff with someone and you have 110 people committed to the same goal, you can do anything you possibly want.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAnd that\u2019s just something that we\u2019ve been doing [at Washington], we\u2019ve been spending a lot of time together,\u201d he said. \u201c[We\u2019re] really becoming locked in and like a real brotherhood. There\u2019s no separation in the locker room, it\u2019s all one\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Expectations Out Wide<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI expect a lot out of the wide receivers,\u201d Coleman said at Big Ten Media Days. \u201cI think those guys are going to have a big year. We\u2019ve got a lot of special guys in that group that some people may not even know about.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Husky receiver room features the imposing 6\u2019-4\u201d frame of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/denzel-boston-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Denzel Boston<\/a>, alongside the track speed of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/omari-evans-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Omari Evans<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/rashid-williams-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rashid Williams<\/a> figures to see the field frequently this season after taking the majority of first-team reps and being the first receiver in line running through drills all Spring. Freshmen Chris Lawson, who had a couple of <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/collegefootball\/2025\/04\/26\/washingtons-second-spring-scrimmage\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">touchdown catches in Washington\u2019s scrimmage<\/a>, and Raiden Vines-Bright, who hauled in seven catches for over 140 yards and a touchdown in the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/collegefootball\/2025\/05\/03\/instant-reaction-from-washingtons-spring-game\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Spring Game<\/a>, are also likely to be in the rotation.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Grasping The Entire Offense<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to sharing confidence in the Husky receiver room, Coleman discussed how he\u2019s been studying the receiver position in addition to his running back duties. \u201cLearning the receiver stuff is something that I feel like will add another step to my game,\u201d Coleman said. \u201cBecause you never know where you can line up in the offense as a running back.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhen you know the playbook in this offense, there\u2019s a lot that you can do, a lot of big plays that you can make.\u201d There\u2019s an element of creativity that Jedd Fisch brings to the offense with his play calling, and Coleman is the kind of physical athlete who can help execute the playbook. \u201cI\u2019m excited,\u201d Coleman said. \u201cI don\u2019t know what Coach Fisch has in store, but I know it all.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Main Image: Lucas Peltier-Imagn Images<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Washington running back Jonah Coleman represented the Huskies for the second season in a row at Big Ten Media Days.
