Even while surrounded by die-hard Tiger fans, he’s held Texas A&M in high regard for the duration of his recruitment. Mike Elko’s Aggies were seen as the favorites as recently as days ago.

The highly decorated prospect visited Miami, Texas, and Texas A&M this summer before making his last official visit to LSU in June. He went further on the draw of the home team.

“Get to play Saturday nights in Death Valley. We’re going to go win a national championship,” said Brown.

Five-Star Lineman Lamar Brown Commits to LSU

Monster in the Trenches

At 6’-4” and 285 pounds, Brown has the prerequisite size to play multiple positions on either side of the line. He displays elite strength and a sound base in pass protection at right tackle on his University High squad. The bull rush at the high school level is ineffective against him once he anchors down.

Brown might be even more impressive as a run-blocker on the offensive line. His fluid hips and quick feet make him an ideal candidate to pull on counters and traps. He’s comfortable in space and easily locates and finishes linebackers at the second level of the defense. It’s unusual to see a player at this stage help at the first level, then finish at the second level as naturally and consistently as he does.

Defensively, Brown is a prototypical, disruptive 4-3 defensive tackle. Every movement is explosive. From the burst off the line to the hand fighting, his twitch is evident on tape. He shows the ability to physically overwhelm offensive linemen and move the pocket backwards. Conversely, he also exhibits agility with swim moves and quickness when splitting double teams. The top-rated defensive lineman in the country is a terror for offensive linemen.

Road to Glory

This is no game for LSU. But as EA Sports would tell us, recruiting is where it all starts when building champions. The LSU 2026 class now has 15 total commitments and three five-stars. It continues to boast the highest rating per player in the 247 Composite Rankings. Brown and Karr’s Richard Anderson give the Tigers the two highest-ranked defensive linemen in the country. With tackles like Brown and Anderson and edge prospects like five-star Trenton Henderson, the Tigers are well on their way to fielding the intimidating fronts LSU was once known for.

Main Image: Maria Lysaker-Imagn Images

One of the most high-profile and unpredictable recruiting wars has (possibly) come to an end.
