The move comes after weeks of speculation that he was intending to flip on his original pledge from September of 2023. Knight, who hails from Mississippi, was a key part of Notre Dame’s 2025 class. He is ranked as a Top 50 player by Rivals, On3, and 247 Sports.

“He is the most polarizing prospect in the class,” wrote Cooper Petagna, the 247Sports national recruiting analyst, of Knight. “It’s not just because he’s a quarterback. When you look at this kid and what he can be, we’re talking about a guy with a 42-inch vertical jump, a state champion with a very strong track and field resume in terms of genetics with his brother playing at Indiana.
