As of now, there are three returning tight ends on Montlake, and two true freshmen will be joining the program.

Returning Production

Quentin Moore is the only tight end on the roster who has caught a pass in purple and gold. The senior hauled in two passes in 2023 and five the year prior. One of his two catches last season did result in a touchdown, but his numbers were sparse. Moore is 6’-4” and 255 pounds and was a three-star recruit out of high school. He had offers from a handful of former Pac-12 schools but stayed close to home, attending his in-state university. Moore is likely to be the top tight-end target next season as the only one with returning experience on this roster. Spring practice will tell us a lot about how this offense will look, and how Moore fits into the picture.

Last Year’s Scout Team Tight Ends

Two of the other tight ends on this roster were named scout team players of the week on separate occasions during the 2023 season. Ryan Otton, the younger brother of former Washington tight end Cade Otton, was named scout team player of the week for the week leading up to the Michigan State game last year. He has played in two games in his career, one as a true freshman in 2022 and one as a redshirt freshman last season. Otton hasn’t recorded any stats but was a four-star tight end out of high school from nearby Olympia, Washington. He was rated the number 10 tight end in the nation in the class of 2022.

John Frazier has not set foot on the field in purple and gold yet but earned scout team player of the week following the Utah game in November last season. After the coaching changes, Crowell was released from his National Letter of Intent and decommitted from Arizona on February 19th. On February 27th, the 6’-6” and 240-pound tight end committed to play football at Washington for Fisch. Crowell was a three-star out of high school from Bend, Oregon.

Washington Tight End Room

Like the offensive line, the tight ends group does not have the game experience that you’d like to see heading into Spring practice. But the positive spin on this is that there’s a lot to learn when the practice sessions begin in early April. Each of these players will be playing for a depth chart spot with no clear starting rotation at the position. We’ll be following this position group closely as we work through the Spring.

Photo Credit: Daniel Dunn-USA TODAY Sports

Like almost every position group on this football team, Washington has much to replace at tight end.
