Elias Rudolph Commits to the Wolverines<\/h2>\n

After a tough stretch of recruiting news for Michigan Football, Jim Harbaugh<\/strong> received an important commitment Monday evening. Elias Rudolph<\/strong><\/a>, a four-star edge rusher from Deerfield Beach High School in Florida, chose Michigan over Miami and Pittsburgh. Rudolph is ranked No. 291 in the nation for the class of 2024 on the 247Sports<\/em> composite. He is the No. 23 rated edge rusher in the country and the No. 44 recruit in Florida. He is originally an Ohio native who attended Taft High School in Cincinnati before transferring to Deerfield Beach for his upcoming senior season. With Rudolph\u2019s commitment, Michigan’s 2024 class has reached 25 pledges and is ranked fourth behind Georgia, Ohio State, and Florida.<\/p>\n

What Does This Mean For Michigan Football?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Rudolph (6-4, 205) needs to bulk up to play on the edge in the Big Ten, but his explosive athleticism will certainly translate. He has good get-off with the combination of speed and bend to disrupt opposing backfields and get after the quarterback. He also displays good hand usage with a quality spin move. Rudolph may be the most pure pass rushing prospect in Michigan\u2019s class so far.<\/p>\n

Despite his move to Florida, Rudolph\u2019s commitment is another big win in Ohio for the Wolverines. The Buckeye State has been a point of emphasis for Harbaugh and his staff on the recruiting trail. The Wolverine’s defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale<\/strong> has deep roots in the state and they continue to pay off. Rudolph is the fifth Ohio-born commit for Michigan\u2019s 2024 class. He joins two other Cincinnati natives in four-star running back Jordan Marshall<\/strong> and four-star defensive lineman Ted Hammond<\/strong>. Rudolph originally had Big Ten rivals Ohio State and Penn State among his finalists before eliminating both in June.<\/p>\n

Rudolph is the third edge prospect to commit to Michigan this cycle in what is becoming an intriguing group at the position. He joins Maryland prospects Dominic Nichols<\/strong> and Devon Baxter<\/strong> who both committed in June. Nichols and Baxter are bigger, longer prospects that Michigan typically covets, but Rudolph brings more explosiveness in a similar mold of former Wolverine and current New England Patriot Josh Uche<\/strong><\/a>. After missing out on four-star Darien Mayo, Michigan has snagged three of its four remaining edge targets. The Wolverines will now turn its attention to their final top edge target in Cheshire Academy\u2019s Jacob Smith<\/strong>. Jacob is the twin brother of current defensive line commit Jerod Smith<\/strong> and securing his commitment will be crucial for Michigan’s class.<\/p>\n
