Look through the recruiting classes of the last few years and you’ll see tons of Kentucky talent. That continued on Thursday when the Bluegrass State’s top quarterback chose the Cats. Let’s break it down as Cutter Boley Chooses Kentucky.

A Big Time Commitment

The high four-star Boley elected to stay at home in a ceremony held at Lexington Christian Academy. It even attracted the Kentucky Sports Radio crew who did their show live from LCA. He had some big-time offers but ultimately chose UK over Florida State, Michigan Penn State, and Tennessee. In a change from many commitment ceremonies, Boley had custom shoes for each of his five finalists.

Here’s the commitment. In addition, he’s the sixth-best quarterback in the nation by 247 Sports composite and 72nd best player overall. Shortly after committing he announced he was reclassifying to the 2024 class and will enroll in January.

A season ago Boley completed 254 of 400 passes for 3,901 yards and 36 touchdowns. He helped lead thee Knights all the way to the Class 2A final four. Boley started his career at Larue County where he threw for 1,391 yards and 11 touchdowns. Furthermore, he ran for 245 yards and six touchdowns.

Boley developed a good relationship when Liam Coen was here during his first stint at Kentucky. Reportedly when Coen left the Los Angeles Rams Boley’s interest in staying home waned somewhat. However, with the offensive coordinator back in tow he quickly rebuilt that relationship securing the commitment.

Now that we’ve given you the low down let’s talk about the future as Cutter Boley chooses Kentucky.

How He Fits In

Currently, Boley is listed in the 2025 class. However, he has enough academic credits to move to 2024 which is what he’s doing. While he’s visited Kentucky numerous times he’s planning an official visit from June 9-11.

As it stands now North Carolina State transfer Devin Leary heads Kentucky’s quarterback room. However, he’ll look to become the second straight Wildcat signal caller taken in the NFL Draft. Behind him is sophomore Destin Wade, along with junior Kaiya Sheron and senior Deuce Hogan. At this point, Kentucky isn’t recruiting any other quarterbacks for 2024 so he’ll be in the mix for the starting job from day one.

Final Thoughts

Again Cutter Boley chooses Kentucky in what could turn out to be the most heralded UK quarterback recruit since Tim Couch in 1995. He’s certainly the biggest since Drew Barker nearly a decade ago. He’s the type of player that could attract other high-profile players to come to Kentucky.
