{"id":44795,"date":"2022-05-01T17:00:45","date_gmt":"2022-05-01T21:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/collegefootball\/?p=44795"},"modified":"2022-05-01T14:38:23","modified_gmt":"2022-05-01T18:38:23","slug":"former-penguin-andrew-ogletree-drafted-by-the-colts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/collegefootball\/2022\/05\/01\/former-penguin-andrew-ogletree-drafted-by-the-colts\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Penguin Andrew Ogletree Drafted By The Colts"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Former Penguins Andrew Ogletree Drafted sixth round by the Colts<\/h3>\n<p>For the first time since 2017, the Youngstown State Penguins had one of their players taken in the NFL Draft. \u00a0That player is now former Penguins <a href=\"https:\/\/ysusports.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/andrew-ogletree\/5444\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Andrew Ogletree<\/strong><\/a>, drafted in the sixth round (pick 192) by the Indianapolis Colts. The others who were selected beforehand were <strong>Derek Rivers<\/strong> and <strong>Avery Moss<\/strong>. \u00a0Both were drafted in 2017 and played in the FCS championship team that 2016-17 season.<\/p>\n<h3>Andrew Ogletree Career Before YSU<\/h3>\n<p>Originally a Dayton Ohio native, Ogletree played for Findlay From 2016 to 2019. At Findlay, he caught a total of 54 passes for 785 yards and had 10 touchdowns. \u00a0In 2018, Ogletree was named honorable-mention All-G-Mac selection. \u00a0However, looking toward the future, he decided to take the next step in Division one football.<\/p>\n<h3>Career at YSU<\/h3>\n<p>Due to the pandemic, every player was granted an extra year of eligibility. \u00a0This meant for Ogletree, he had two seasons to show what he can do to improve YSU. \u00a0Even though he did not score a touchdown in his two seasons at Youngstown State, he still showcased his athletic skill. \u00a0The offense may have had a down season, but Ogletree still showcased improvement.<\/p>\n<p>His blocking was needed, especially with a height at 6&#8217;6. \u00a0Not the fastest, but when he could build up speed, you saw him get open a bunch. \u00a0His biggest game reception wise came against North Dakota State this past season with five receptions for 70 yards. \u00a0His final career stat at Youngstown State had him with 39 receptions and leading the team with 386 yards. \u00a0Ogletree participated in the Penguins pro day in the hopes of getting on an NFL roster.<\/p>\n<h3>NFL Pro Day Scores\/Draft<\/h3>\n<p>Ogletree was invited to play in the 2022 Hula Bowl. \u00a0In that game, he made a great catch behind the end zone for a touchdown which really built his draft projections up from what they were before, and was named the MVP.<\/p>\n<p>In his Pro Day, Ogletree ran a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indystar.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/colts\/2022\/04\/30\/colts-take-youngstown-state-te-andrew-ogletree-6th-round-nfl-draft\/7441561001\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">4.7<\/a> on a 40-yard dash, 35-inch vertical, 121-inch broad jump, and an impressive 26 reps on the bench press. \u00a0Some have said that even how long he is to make difficult catches, he can still have a case of the drops sometimes with <a href=\"https:\/\/coltswire.usatoday.com\/lists\/nfl-draft-indianapolis-colts-andrew-ogletree-pick-instant-analysis-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">soft hands<\/a>, which is going to be an issue unless <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/draft\/scouting-reports\/andrewogletree\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">improved<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Former Penguins Andrew Ogletree Drafted sixth round by the Colts<\/h3>\n<p>Ogletree is going to be the second tight drafted by the Colts who selected tight end <strong>Jelani Woods<\/strong> and second-round receiver Alec Pierce. \u00a0Ogletree is looking to impress the fans of Indianapolis, his local crowd in Dayton Ohio, Youngstown, and especially the Colts new quarterback, Matt Ryan, and coach Frank Reich during camp.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"nnU2GS7SRJ571iWuLiWm7w\" class=\"gie-single\" style=\"color: #a7a7a7; text-decoration: none; font-weight: normal !important; border: none; display: inline-block;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gettyimages.com\/detail\/1240026219\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Embed from Getty Images<\/a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'nnU2GS7SRJ571iWuLiWm7w',sig:'dV46rAMk11GA2dlgS0Gwrk8LeazXErPe4s-IeBIUTrs=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'1240026219',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});<\/script><script src='\/\/embed-cdn.gettyimages.com\/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Penguins Andrew Ogletree Drafted sixth round by the Colts For the first time since 2017, the Youngstown State Penguins had one of their players taken in the NFL Draft. \u00a0That player is now former Penguins Andrew Ogletree, drafted in the sixth round (pick 192) by the Indianapolis Colts.
