The Texas A&M Aggies have an extremely talented roster coming into the 2022 season. However, there are a lot of questions on the offensive side of the ball with incoming transfers and new, fresh talent. The Aggies will have to depend on their best players at every position on offense to compete in the SEC West. On that note, here are the best players at each position on offense for the Aggies.<\/p>\r\n
Haynes King<\/strong> was the starter for the Aggies last season before his injury. The quarterback room also features two talented quarterbacks in Max Johnson<\/a> and Conner Weigman<\/strong>. Johnson didn’t show much promise last year at LSU, and Weigman needs some time to develop his game as a freshman.<\/p>\r\n King offers a special aspect to the offense with his dual-threat ability. While he is not exactly an elite passer, King is capable of making big plays for Texas A&M. His consistency is needed for the Aggies’ offense to become more productive.<\/p>\r\n The running back group is deep for Texas A&M this season. Both Isaiah Spiller<\/strong> and Devon Achane<\/a> had good arguments last year for being the best running back for the Aggies. Nonetheless, it is clear that Achane will get the most carries in 2022 over the likes of LJ Johnson Jr.<\/strong> and Amari Daniels<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n Achane had an outstanding season in 2021 with over 900 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. He also plays key roles in both the passing and return games, which makes him a valuable player for Texas A&M. If he’s able to have another great year, expect him to be a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n The wide receiver room is abundant with talent for the Aggies, but senior Ainias Smith<\/a> will definitely be the top pass-catcher. He was recruited to Texas A&M to play running back, but Jimbo Fisher<\/a> found Smith to be a great slot receiver. In his last two seasons, Smith has finished with over 1,000 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.<\/p>\r\n Other players such as Evan Stewart<\/strong> and Caleb Chapman<\/a> could have a great season in 2022, but Smith will likely be King’s go-to receiver. Smith is a player with experience, and he has adapted himself to the college game. He knows how to beat man coverage, and he’s clever in finding the weak spots in zone coverage.<\/p>\r\n The biggest loss on the Aggies’ offense is undoubtedly tight end Jalen Wydermyer<\/a>. Now, Texas A&M has two players at tight end, who are both true freshmen: Donovan Green<\/strong> and Jake Johnson<\/strong>. These two will likely battle it out for the starting spot, and Green should earn that position in the Fall.<\/p>\r\n Johnson ranks as the better tight end according to 247Sports, but these two athletes are very similar in dynamics and game.
