{"id":4353,"date":"2016-12-03T09:31:18","date_gmt":"2016-12-03T14:31:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordoncollegefootball.com\/?p=4353"},"modified":"2017-12-30T16:43:13","modified_gmt":"2017-12-30T21:43:13","slug":"2016-seniors-thank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/collegefootball\/2016\/12\/03\/2016-seniors-thank\/","title":{"rendered":"2016 College Football Seniors: Thank You"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>A Note of Thanks<\/h3>\n<p>As the college football regular season ends and conference championship play prepares to get underway there is one thing that college football fans across the country need to stop and do.\u00a0 Stop and say thank you to the players for their favorite teams.\u00a0 The conclusion of the college football season means seniors days occurring across the country at all levels of football.<\/p>\n<p>Not every season goes as expected, there are unmet team and individual goals, 18-22 year olds are criticized by adults on a weekly to daily basis and they own the blames and failures like the respectful men that we hope they will go on to be in whatever endeavors they choose to pursue. They might have to answer public questions about their ability, but their effort should never be questioned.\u00a0 So in this article we\u2019ll say thank you to all of the college football players who may have just played their last game ever.<\/p>\n<p>From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.<\/p>\n<h3>A Week of Work<\/h3>\n<p>Each week fans pack stadiums and sit glued in front of the TV to watch you do something that you love.\u00a0 The results are never as any of us had hoped but that\u2019s life.\u00a0 You gave your all to your teammates, family, fans and university.\u00a0 For four to five years you completely poured yourself into one singular focus, again we say thank you.\u00a0 You balanced the difficult demands of being a student-athlete, a son, brother, uncle and any other role you might be filling. \u00a0And you did so to the best of your abilities, your effort will never be questioned, thank you.\u00a0 You come from all different walks of life, from coast to coast, north to south, some from foreign countries and you played your hearts out.<\/p>\n<p>Expectations may or may have been met from when you first stepped on campus. But I can sure you whether you played 0 snaps or 10,000 snaps over the course of your career, your career was anything but a bust or a disappointment.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t matter if you were a five-star recruit that was billed as the next NFL super star or a recruited walk on hoping to make it into the 105-man roster for training camp, college football fans are forever grateful for you and say thank you to you.\u00a0 As the seasons end draws near, and you prepare to play potentially your last game, please know that what you did was truly special and to cherish those final moments. \u00a0And while fans may not always show it, they are deeply thankful for the time you spent at\u00a0your university.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Sam Foltz<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Unfortunately, you were taken from us far too soon.\u00a0 Your brothers at <strong>Nebraska<\/strong> represented your life with the utmost class. What may seem like a disappointing to some fans is a success to those players.
