This first ran on November 26, 2021. Happy Thanksgiving! <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Happy Football Friday.\u00a0 Today we have Football Friday Tailgate Recipes: Thanksgiving Leftovers Edition. Did you save last week\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/collegefootball\/2021\/11\/19\/football-friday-tailgate-recipes-not-your-average-appetizer\/\" target=\"_self\">Not Your Average Appetizer<\/a>? Since it is the Friday after Thanksgiving I thought using up those leftovers would be perfect for tailgating.\u00a0 I hope you enjoy the tasty treats and the all games this weekend.<\/p>\n<h2>Football Friday Tailgate Recipes: Thanksgiving Leftovers Edition<\/h2>\n<p>Ultimately, this is one of my all-time favorites to whip up after Thanksgiving.\u00a0 Turkey Potato Chowder. I don&#8217;t actually have a recipe for what I make. However, I found a recipe similar to what I think mine is. Although, I always add some leftover stuffing for a little extra flavor.\u00a0 You can make a big batch and feed the entire tailgate party.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aheadofthyme.com\/turkey-potato-chowder\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">All The Thanksgiving Leftovers: Turkey Potato Chowder<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 tablespoons\u00a0butter<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd\u00a0small\u00a0onion,\u00a0<em>diced<\/em><\/li>\n<li>1\u00a0clove\u00a0garlic,\u00a0<em>minced<\/em><\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons\u00a0all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"nutrifox-quantity\" data-nf-original=\"usc\" data-nf-usc=\"3\" data-nf-metric=\"750\" data-unit=\"cup\" data-nf-usc-unit=\"cup\" data-nf-metric-unit=\"ml\" data-nf-food-id=\"1305\" data-nf-food-description=\"Soup, stock, chicken, home-prepared\" data-amount=\"3\">3<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"nutrifox-unit\" data-nf-original=\"usc\" data-nf-usc=\"cup\" data-nf-metric=\"ml\" data-nf-food-id=\"1305\" data-nf-food-description=\"Soup, stock, chicken, home-prepared\">cups<\/span>\u00a0chicken stock<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon\u00a0Italian seasoning<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"nutrifox-quantity\" data-nf-original=\"usc\" data-nf-usc=\"3\" data-nf-metric=\"687\" data-unit=\"cup\" data-nf-usc-unit=\"cup\" data-nf-metric-unit=\"gram\" data-nf-food-id=\"8233\" data-nf-food-description=\"Potatoes, mashed, ready-to-eat\" data-amount=\"3\">3<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"nutrifox-unit\" data-nf-original=\"usc\" data-nf-usc=\"cup\" data-nf-metric=\"gram\" data-nf-food-id=\"8233\" data-nf-food-description=\"Potatoes, mashed, ready-to-eat\">cups<\/span>\u00a0leftover\u00a0mashed potatoes<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"nutrifox-quantity\" data-nf-food-id=\"1038\" data-nf-food-description=\"Ground turkey, raw\" data-amount=\"2\">2<\/span>&#8211;<span class=\"nutrifox-second-quantity\" data-nf-food-id=\"1038\" data-nf-food-description=\"Ground turkey, raw\" data-amount=\"3\">3<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"nutrifox-unit\" data-nf-food-id=\"1038\" data-nf-food-description=\"Ground turkey, raw\">cups<\/span>\u00a0cooked turkey,\u00a0<em>shredded or cubed<\/em><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"nutrifox-quantity\" data-nf-original=\"usc\" data-nf-usc=\"1\" data-nf-metric=\"250\" data-unit=\"cup\" data-nf-usc-unit=\"cup\" data-nf-metric-unit=\"ml\" data-nf-food-id=\"170\" data-nf-food-description=\"Cream, half and half, fat free\" data-amount=\"1\">1<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"nutrifox-unit\" data-nf-original=\"usc\" data-nf-usc=\"cup\" data-nf-metric=\"ml\" data-nf-food-id=\"170\" data-nf-food-description=\"Cream, half and half, fat free\">cup<\/span>\u00a0half and half cream<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"nutrifox-quantity\" data-nf-original=\"usc\" data-nf-usc=\"0.5\" data-nf-metric=\"72.5\" data-unit=\"cup\" data-nf-usc-unit=\"cup\" data-nf-metric-unit=\"gram\" data-nf-food-id=\"2932\" data-nf-food-description=\"Corn, sweet, yellow, raw\" data-amount=\"0.5\">\u00bd<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"nutrifox-unit\" data-nf-original=\"usc\" data-nf-usc=\"cup\" data-nf-metric=\"gram\" data-nf-food-id=\"2932\" data-nf-food-description=\"Corn, sweet, yellow, raw\">cup<\/span>\u00a0corn,\u00a0<em>frozen<\/em><\/li>\n<li>salt and pepper\u00a0(to taste)<\/li>\n<li>cheddar cheese,<em>\u00a0shredded\u00a0<\/em>(optional, for topping)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Instructions:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-1\">In a large\u00a0stockpot\u00a0or\u00a05.5-quart Dutch oven, melt butter over medium-high heat, until it starts to bubble, about 1 minute. Add onion and garlic and saut\u00e9 until soft and tender and starting to brown, about 3-4 minutes.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-2\">Add flour and mix well until evenly combined with the onion mixture and continue to cook for another minute. Pour in the stock and Italian seasoning and mix well. Bring the mixture to a simmer, about 3-4 minutes.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-3\">Add in mashed potatoes, and stir until all the potatoes have broken up. Let the soup simmer over medium heat for 8-10 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-4\">Add turkey and half and half cream. Cook until heated through, about 3-5 minutes. Stir in corn and season with salt and pepper to taste.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 class=\"mv-create-title mv-create-title-primary\"><a href=\"https:\/\/numstheword.com\/leftover-cranberry-sauce-bars\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Leftover Cranberry Sauce Bars<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>I personally am not a huge fan of the cranberry sauce but <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/collegefootball\/2021\/11\/24\/notre-dame-impact-players-as-thanksgiving-dishes\/\" target=\"_self\">several writers on our staff<\/a> are so I picked this recipe for them.\u00a0 Which do y&#8217;all prefer the fresh cranberry sauce or the canned cranberry sauce?<\/p>\n<p class=\"mv-create-ingredients-title mv-create-title-secondary\"><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 3\/4 cups all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats<\/li>\n<li>1 cup firmly packed brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>1 cup cold butter, cut into 3\/4 inch pieces<\/li>\n<li>1 cup of your leftover cranberry sauce, room temperature<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"mv-create-instructions-title mv-create-title-secondary\"><strong>Instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preheat oven to 325* F<\/li>\n<li>Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.<\/li>\n<li>Combine flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a food processor and pulse 2 or 3 times until blended. (if you do not have a food processor, use a hand pastry blender)<\/li>\n<li>Add the butter and pulse 8-10 times until the mixture forms large, coarse crumbs the size of small peas. (Or use your hand pastry blender.)<\/li>\n<li>Remove 1 1\/2 cups of the crumb mixture and set aside.<\/li>\n<li>Press the remaining crumb mixture into the bottom and 1 inch up the sides of the prepared pan.<\/li>\n<li>Drop teaspoons of the cranberry sauce evenly over the crust, then spread it gently with the back of the spoon to cover the crust.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle reserved crumbs evenly over the jam layer.<\/li>\n<li>Bake until the top is lightly browned, 50 &#8211; 55 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer to a rack and let cool until firm, about 2 hours (or chill until firm).<\/li>\n<li>Using a sharp knife, cut into 12 squares.<\/li>\n<li>Store in an airtight container at room temperature.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/whoneedsacape.com\/2016\/10\/bacon-wrapped-stuffing-bites\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bacon Wrapped Stuffing Bites\u00a0<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>WOW! These look amazing. Honestly, bacon-wrapped anything is pretty tasty.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>9 strips Wright Brand Bacon<\/li>\n<li>3 cups prepared stuffing (either package or homemade)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li id=\"mv_create_1043_1\">Preheat oven to 375\u00b0 degrees.<\/li>\n<li id=\"mv_create_1043_2\">Line baking tray with aluminum foil. Spray with non-stick cooking spray.<\/li>\n<li id=\"mv_create_1043_3\">Cut slices of\u00a0<em>Wright Brand Bacon<\/em>\u00a0in 1\/2.<\/li>\n<li id=\"mv_create_1043_4\">Form stuffing into balls, approximately golf ball size.<\/li>\n<li id=\"mv_create_1043_5\">Place stuffing ball onto the center of bacon piece. Wrap bacon around the ball bringing both sides together and securing with a toothpick.<\/li>\n<li id=\"mv_create_1043_6\">Bake approximately 20-25 minutes. Remove tray when bacon is fully cooked.<\/li>\n<li id=\"mv_create_1043_7\">Place bites onto paper toweling prior to serving.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The recipe author recommends Wright&#8217;s bacon for this reason&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>Wright Brand Bacon<\/em> at Kroger in the Applewood flavor is hand-selected and hand-trimmed. You get bigger, better bacon in every package. Big thick slices are perfect for this recipe, okay all recipes use bacon, but in this recipe especially you want the sturdy bacon to hug tender stuffing.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spendwithpennies.com\/turkey-salad\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Leftover Turkey Salad<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>This is the easiest of all the leftover recipes.
