While working on the Toasty Tailgate Beverages article I came across several variations of hot toddies so I decided they needed their own week.\u00a0 Again, \u00a0I tried to pick crockpot recipes so you have a large batch.<\/p>\n<p>What is a hot toddy? A hot toddy, also known as hot whiskey in Ireland, is typically a mixed drink made of liquor and water with honey, herbs, and spices, and served hot. Hot toddy recipes vary and are traditionally drunk before retiring for the night, in wet or cold weather, or to relieve the symptoms of the cold and flu. We are going to use them this week to keep us warm at these late fall tailgate parties.\u00a0 Y&#8217;all Enjoy!<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wprm-recipe-name\">Hot Toddy<\/h2>\n<p>This recipe makes 12 servings<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredients\">\n<li class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient\"><span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-amount\">1<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-unit\">Bottle<\/span><span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-name\"> Whisky or Bourbon<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-notes\">750 mL<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient\"><span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-amount\">6<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-unit\">Cups<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-name\">Water<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient\"><span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-amount\">5<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-unit\">Tablespoons<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-name\">Honey<\/span><\/li>\n<li>2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice, to taste<\/li>\n<li class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient\"><span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-amount\">1<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-unit\">Teaspoon<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-name\">Ground Clove<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient\"><span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-amount\">4<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-name\">Cinnamon Sticks<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient\"><span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-name\">Lemon Slices<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-notes\">for garnish <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\">\n<p><strong>Instructions:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pour Whisky and water into your crockpot. Set heat to low.<\/p>\n<p>Measure in honey and stir gently.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\">\n<p>Add lemon juice, clove, and cinnamon sticks. Stir again and then cover.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\">\n<p>Serve hot from the crockpot and garnish with lemon slices.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"h2 secondary\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patrontequila.com\/cocktails\/patron-anejo\/touchdown-toddy.html?gclsrc=aw.ds&amp;gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-a-vmuSO9AIVsmxvBB2wiwnhEAAYAiAAEgIwavD_BwE&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=Non+Brand_Always+On_Cocktail_Exact+Match&amp;utm_source=google&amp;mkwid=&amp;utm_term=hot%20toddie&amp;pcrid=476146071259\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tequila Touchdown Toddy<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>A tasty twist on the classic hot toddy using Patr\u00f3n&#8217;s A\u00f1ejo which is aged for 12 months in a combination of French oak, Hungarian oak, and used American whiskey barrels.<\/p>\n<p>This recipe makes 10 servings<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>20oz Patr\u00f3n A\u00f1ejo<\/li>\n<li>30 oz hot water<\/li>\n<li>15 oz lemon juice<\/li>\n<li>10 oz honey<\/li>\n<li>10 pinches of ground cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>30 drops of vanilla extract<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Instructions:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the bottom of a sturdy mug, combine a pinch of ground cinnamon, honey, and hot water and stir to combine.<\/p>\n<p>Add Patr\u00f3n A\u00f1ejo, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.<\/p>\n<p>Stir to combine all ingredients.<\/p>\n<h2>Apple-Cinnamon Hot Toddy<\/h2>\n<p>This recipe makes 12-15 drinks<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"m-PromoList o-Capsule__m-PromoList\">\n<li class=\"m-PromoList__a-ListItem\">8 oz. water<\/li>\n<li class=\"m-PromoList__a-ListItem\">1 cup sugar<\/li>\n<li class=\"m-PromoList__a-ListItem\">4 cinnamon sticks, broken into pieces<\/li>\n<li class=\"m-PromoList__a-ListItem\">1-gallon fresh-pressed apple cider<\/li>\n<li class=\"m-PromoList__a-ListItem\">5 dashes of apple bitters (may substitute Angostura or your favorite cocktail bitters), plus more to taste<\/li>\n<li class=\"m-PromoList__a-ListItem\">whiskey, brandy, or rum<\/li>\n<li class=\"m-PromoList__a-ListItem\">lemon wedges studded with cloves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Instructions:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two to four hours before the party starts, add all the ingredients except the whiskey, brandy, or rum to a slow cooker set to high. (You can also use a large pot on the stove over low heat instead; if so, start the process about an hour before the party.) Stir every 10 minutes for the first half-hour or so, until the sugar dissolves completely. Cover and let stand until hot. Turn the slow cooker to low to keep the mixture warm during the party.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"headline recipe-mobile\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purewow.com\/recipes\/slow-cooker-cranberry-hot-toddy\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cranberry Hot Toddy<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>This recipe makes 12-14 drinks<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2\u00bd quarts cranberry juice cocktail<\/li>\n<li>\u2153 cup honey<\/li>\n<li>3 tangerines, thinly sliced, plus more for serving<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc cup whole cloves<\/li>\n<li>2 cinnamon sticks, plus more for serving<\/li>\n<li>1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled<\/li>\n<li class=\"checked\">1\u00bc cups amber rum<\/li>\n<li>1 cup brandy<\/li>\n<li>Fresh cranberries, for serving<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Instructions:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. In a large slow cooker, combine the cranberry juice, honey, tangerine slices, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and ginger.<\/p>\n<p>2. Cover the slow cooker and set it on high. Cook for 4 hours. Stir in the rum and the brandy.<\/p>\n<p>3. To serve, strain the drink into mugs. Garnish with tangerine slices, cranberries, and a cinnamon stick.
