{"id":3607,"date":"2016-11-11T07:00:35","date_gmt":"2016-11-11T12:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordoncollegefootball.com\/?p=3607"},"modified":"2016-11-11T10:44:19","modified_gmt":"2016-11-11T15:44:19","slug":"who-will-win-in-week-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/collegefootball\/2016\/11\/11\/who-will-win-in-week-11\/","title":{"rendered":"SEC: Who Will Win In Week 11 and Can Texas A&#038;M Rebound?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When the <strong>College Football Playoff Committee<\/strong> released their first rankings of the season on November 1st, many people were surprised to see the <strong>Texas A&amp;M Aggies<\/strong> ranked at No. 4, ahead of undefeated <strong>Washington<\/strong> out of the Pac-12.<\/p>\n<p>Much to the delight of the northwest, the \u201cin\u201d status of Texas A&amp;M was short lived. A&amp;M couldn\u2019t get it going against an inspired <strong>Mississippi<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>State<\/strong>\u00a0in <strong>Starkville<\/strong>\u00a0and despite a late comeback effort, fell short 35-28.<\/p>\n<p>Washington is now at the No. 4 spot, but A&amp;M can no longer worry about whether or not they can get into the final four; they\u2019ve need focus on <strong>Ole Miss<\/strong> this week. A trip to <strong>Atlanta<\/strong> now looks bleak for the Aggies, but with three winnable games remaining, they still have a lot to play for.<\/p>\n<h2>This Week\u2019s Games:<\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Miss St. (4-5) @ #1 Alabama (9-0)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>Crimson Tide,<\/strong> as usual, control their own destiny moving into the home stretch of the season. They\u2019re coming off a typical <strong>Bama-LSU<\/strong> slugfest in <strong>Baton Rouge<\/strong> last week which saw them blank the <strong>Tigers<\/strong> 10-0.<\/p>\n<p>Mississippi State\u00a0is coming off of their biggest win of the season as <strong>Dan Mullen\u2019s<\/strong> crew pulled off a shocking upset of then 4th ranked Texas A&amp;M and should play inspired. Don\u2019t think Alabama is overlooking the <strong>Bulldogs<\/strong>, as\u00a0Saban should have his Tide ready to roll.<\/p>\n<p><em>Spread: Alabama -30<\/em><br \/>\n<em>FPI: Alabama 95.8%<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Prediction: Alabama 37, Miss. St. 14<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Ole Miss (4-5) @ #8 Texas A&amp;M (7-2)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Ole Miss has had a less than impressive season. The <strong>Rebels<\/strong> will be forced to move forward without starting quarterback\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/chad-kelly-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chad Kelly<\/a>,<\/strong> after he went out with a knee injury in last week\u2019s 37-27 win against <strong>Georgia Southern.<\/strong> Red-shirt freshman <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/jason-pellerin-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jason Pellerin<\/strong><\/a> took over for Kelly and finished the game last week. Pellerin\u00a0is in the mix with five-star signee <strong>Shea Patterson<\/strong> to start for the Rebels this week. Ole Miss is fighting to make it to a bowl game, and if they can take down Texas A&amp;M this week, that goal will be much more in reach.<\/p>\n<p>The Aggies enter the game without their starting QB as well. Senior <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/trevor-knight-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Trevor Knight<\/strong> <\/a>exited last week\u2019s loss with a shoulder injury, giving way for junior <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/jake-hubenak-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jake Hubenak<\/strong> <\/a>to make his first start of the season. Hubenak has more experience than Pellerin and Patterson. A&amp;M\u2019s defense, while it struggled to show it last week, is still really good. So, can A&amp;M rebound? Ole Miss will have a lot to say about that.<\/p>\n<p><em>Spread: Texas A&amp;M -10.5<\/em><br \/>\n<em>FPI: 69.8%<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Prediction: Texas A&amp;M 28, Ole Miss 17<\/p>\n<h3><strong>#9 Auburn (7-2) @ Georgia (5-4)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>What a rivalry this game is. The two teams meet for the 120th time since 1892, and what makes the rivalry more compelling is that it\u2019s close.\u00a0<strong>Georgia<\/strong> holds a one game lead with a 56-55-8 record against the <strong>Tigers.<\/strong> Georgia has taken the last two meetings and eight of the last ten. As <strong>Auburn<\/strong> moves into\u00a0Saturday\u2019s contest, they&#8217;ll\u00a0get some reinforcement.\u00a0Starting QB <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/sean-white-3.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Sean White<\/strong><\/a> will be ready to go after missing the first half of last weeks victory over <strong>Vanderbilt.<\/strong> Also <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/kamryn-pettway-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kamryn Pettway<\/a>,<\/strong> who pulled\u00a0a muscle late in last week\u2019s game, hopes to be cleared to play on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Georgia will have their hands full with an Auburn team that has won six in a row, who also still controls it\u2019s own destiny and is not totally out of the playoff conversation. The <strong>Bulldogs<\/strong> come\u00a0off a squeak-by win at <strong>Kentucky<\/strong> (a good win over an improved <strong>Wildcats<\/strong>\u00a0team) and are not out of the mix for the East title.<\/p>\n<p><em>Spread: Auburn -10.5<\/em><br \/>\n<em>FPI: Auburn 81.5%<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Prediction: Auburn 33, Georgia 24<\/p>\n<h3><strong>#24 LSU (5-3) @ #25 Arkansas (6-3)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Arkansas<\/strong> is coming off of an impressive 31-10 home win over <strong>Florida,<\/strong> while <strong>LSU<\/strong> is still getting bandaged up after\u00a0<strong>Alabama<\/strong> blanked them at home. <strong>Bret Bielema\u2019s<\/strong> squad has had an up and down year, moving in and out of the Top 25 rankings. Just two weeks ago they were blown out by 53 to Auburn, giving up 543 rush yards. Last week though, the <strong>Razorbacks<\/strong> gave up only 12 rushing yards to Florida. Will the real Arkansas run defense please stand up?<\/p>\n<p>LSU is 3-1 under interim coach <strong>Ed Orgeron.<\/strong> And while the Tigers do have an offense that has improved considerably under Coach O, it didn\u2019t show against Alabama. The Tigers gained only 125 yards of total offense, while star back <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/leonard-fournette-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Leonard Fournette<\/strong><\/a> struggled. He gained only\u00a035 rushing yards against the Tide. Last year, Arkansas upset number nine LSU in Baton Rouge 31-14. This year, LSU is a seven-point favorite, and a win would get the Tigers to bowl-eligibility.<\/p>\n<p><em>Spread: LSU -7<\/em><br \/>\n<em>FPI: LSU 77.7%<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Prediction: LSU 27, Arkansas 24<\/p>\n<h3><strong>South Carolina (5-4) @ Florida (6-2)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>Gators<\/strong> find themselves unranked after an uninspired and disappointing loss at Arkansas last week. What\u2019s worse for the Gators, starting QB <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/luke-del-rio-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Luke Del Rio<\/strong><\/a> will miss Saturday\u2019s contest after suffering a shoulder injury against the Razorbacks. <strong>Purdue<\/strong> graduate transfer,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/austin-appleby-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Austin Appleby<\/a>,<\/strong> will get the start as the Gators look to get back into the win column and all but wrap up the East with a win.<\/p>\n<p>A Gator win would officially eliminate <strong>South Carolina<\/strong>\u00a0from East contention, but if you would\u2019ve told <strong>Gamecock<\/strong> fans at the beginning of the year that their team would still be in the running in November, nobody would\u2019ve listened.\u00a0<strong>Will Muschamp&#8217;s<\/strong> team is playing inspired after the switch to true-freshman QB <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/jake-bentley-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jake Bentley<\/a>.<\/strong> The Gamecocks have won three in a row and sit one win away from bowl-eligibility. To make it four in a row, Muschamp will have to return to <strong>The Swamp<\/strong> and have his team clicking on all cylinders to take down the Gators.<\/p>\n<p><em>Spread: Florida -11<\/em><br \/>\n<em>FPI: Florida 85.4%<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Prediction: Florida 24, South Carolina 23<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Kentucky (5-4) @ Tennessee (6-3)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>Volunteers<\/strong> found a much needed victory last week over <strong>Tennessee Tech<\/strong> 55-0. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/joshua-dobbs-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Joshua Dobbs<\/strong><\/a> teamed with new back <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/john-kelly-6.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>John Kelly<\/strong><\/a> (7 attempts, 104 yards, 1 TD) to steamroll the <strong>Golden Eagles.<\/strong> While no one expected Tennessee to lose, it was a much needed victory for a Volunteer squad that had made it into the Top 10 before losing three straight SEC games and falling out of the rankings. But a Florida loss last week to Arkansas has opened the door for Tennessee to still make it to the SEC Championship Game.<\/p>\n<p>The Volunteers still have three SEC games remaining. If they can win all three and have the Gators lose another, it would be Tennessee hitting the road to Atlanta. But the last thing Tennessee can afford to do is overlook the Wildcats. Kentucky is hunting for a trip to Atlanta themselves. After coming off of a heartbreaking, last-second field goal loss to Georgia, the Wildcats are 4-3 in the league and are attempting to remain in the race with a win at <strong>Neyland Stadium.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Spread: Tennessee -14<\/em><br \/>\n<em>FPI: Tennessee 88.9%<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Prediction: Tennessee 34, Kentucky 27<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Vanderbilt (4-5) @ Missouri (2-7)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h5>Neither of these teams has a chance to win the East. Only Vanderbilt has a chance to make the postseason, which would be their first bowl appearance since 2013. <strong>Derek Mason<\/strong> already has a huge (and potentially job-saving) win under his belt this season with a 17-16 win over Georgia. If the <strong>Commodores<\/strong> want to return to a bowl game, they most likely have to defeat <strong>Missouri.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5>Vanderbilt should be confident coming into the game. They competed well and just narrowly missed a huge upset at <strong>Jordan-Hare Stadium<\/strong> against Auburn last week. As for the Tigers, first year coach <strong>Barry Odom<\/strong> has the team playing tough but it hasn\u2019t translated into wins. Playing at home should help Missouri in this one. The Tigers will need to focus on playing well against a stingy Vanderbilt defense if they hope to come out with their third win of the season.<\/h5>\n<p><em>Spread: Missouri -3.5<\/em><br \/>\n<em>FPI: Missouri 53.4%<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Prediction: Vanderbilt 28, Missouri 21<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s it folks, we\u2019ll know a lot more about the Atlanta outlook after Saturday.
