Today, we’ll look at some of the impactful Oklahoma State transfers. First, Oklahoma State’s football program picked up former Washington State wide-receiver Davontavean Martin. He announced his transfer to the Cowboys Saturday night via Twitter. With the NCAA granting immediate eligibility, Martin adds another weapon on offense that already has Chuba Hubbard and Tylan Wallace. Additionally, the NCAA announced earlier that no players will lose a year of eligibility this season. With that, Martin could spend two seasons in Stillwater. However, there is plenty of competition at the wide receiver position, with seniors Dillon Stoner and Landon Wolf, redshirt junior Braydon Johnson and grad-transfer Dee Anderson all competing for snaps.

Oklahoma State Lose Offensive Linemen to Transfer Portal

As we continue looking at the Oklahoma State transfers, there are some losses to the program. The Cowboys football team lost a couple starting offensive linemen through the transfer portal. Redshirt sophomore Bryce Bray announced on Thursday that he is entering the transfer portal. But, another redshirt sophomore Jacob Ferrell entered the portal earlier in the week. Earlier this summer, starting right tackle Dylan Galloway left the team due to injuries. However, it will be something to watch for this Fall as they try and protect Spencer Sanders, Nolan McLean, and the other quarterbacks. Fortunately for the Cowboys, senior offensive tackle Teven Jenkins, included in the Reese’s Senior Bowl Top 250 seniors list, anchors the line. Pro Football Focus ranks Jenkins as the Big 12’s top returning offensive lineman for the 2020 season.

Mike Gundy Speaks to Local Media

Gundy spoke to members of local media on Monday, August 17th, the first time since the OAN (One America News) controversy. In reality, tension and disconnect came from star player Hubbard and others. Hubbard and Gundy created a video that was shared across social media, and that may have helped the situation. To quote the head coach: “nothing more than just listening to the players and getting back into a routine. We’re back to normal around here, we’re up and running just looking forward to the season.”

Defensive Focus for Oklahoma State

Primarily known for their offensive firepower and statistics, this year’s defensive unit gives Gundy and defensive coordinator Jim Knowles a lot of confidence. For example, leaders on the defensive side of the ball include Calvin Bundage, Trace Ford, Amen Ogbongbemiga, Malcolm Rodriguez, and Christian Holmes. Important to note, potentially 10 out of eleven starters played significant time in 2019. Comparatively, other defensive players such as Kolby Harvell-Peel, Rodarius Williams, and Cameron Murray plan on creating havoc for opposing offenses. When asked about the potential of Ford, defensive coordinator Knowles stated “the kid is a physical specimen with unbelievable short space quickness, a great first step and I think he is an All-American prospect.”

Preseason Accolades

Now, with the Big 12 planning on playing 10 games starting September 12th against Tulsa, Oklahoma State has a number of players with pre-season accolades:

Reese’s Senior Bowl Top 250 seniors Jenkins and Wallace.

A potential Heisman winner, junior running back Hubbard.

A potential All-American on defense, sophomore defensive end Ford.

Embed from Getty Images

Oklahoma State Transfers Cowboys Pick Up Talented Wide Receiver The Cowboys have had an eventful offseason.
