Fields had an excellent 2019 and if it hadn’t been for Burrow’s unbelievable numbers, would have most likely won the trophy. The quarterback completed 67.2% of his passes and threw for 3,272 yards and 41 touchdowns. Fields was only picked off three times.

Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson

Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence had a lot of haters last season. If it wasn’t memes mocking his hair and headband, it was college football pundits criticizing his interceptions total. Lawrence tossed eight interceptions in his first seven games of the season. It doesn’t sound as bad as it was made out to be, especially with Lawrence totaling 36 touchdowns during the season. He also threw for 3,665 yards. Lawrence added nine running touchdowns. If he can be more consistent from the start, the Heisman Trophy could be his.

Chuba Hubbard, RB, Oklahoma State

Chuba Hubbard looked like a lock to join the NFL Draft 2020, but shocked college football followers – and pleased Oklahoma State fans – by remaining in Stillwater for another year. The running back led college football with 2,094 rushing yards in 2019. He tallied 21 touchdowns on the ground which was the third-most in the country. The big knock against Hubbard winning the Heisman Trophy is Oklahoma State. The team isn’t likely to fight for a National Championship.

Ian Book, QB, Notre Dame

Ian Book had a very good season at Notre Dame in 2019. He threw for 3,034 yards and 34 touchdowns against six interceptions. His biggest issue was a weak schedule with Notre Dame playing New Mexico and Bowling Green. Had Book produced his numbers with tougher teams on Notre Dame’s schedule in the first half of the season, he may have challenged Burrow for the Heisman.

Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson

Travis Etienne is another potential Heisman Trophy winner that decided to return for another season rather than go into the NFL Draft 2020.
