Instead, San Diego State and Central Michigan gave them a result similar to year&#8217;s past.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First Half<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Central Michigan received the opening kickoff but the offensive drive did not last long as a few plays later, quarterback <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/quinten-dormady-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Quinten Dormady<\/a> w<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ould be picked off by <\/span><b>Kyahva Tezino<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">San Diego State needed just four plays before they were in the endzone.\u00a0 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/playbyplay?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Ryan Agnew<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> found <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/playbyplay?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Jessee Matthews<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for 22 yards with Matthews making a nice diving catch and just like that, it was 7-0 Aztecs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Central Michigan opened their second possession strong as Dormady found <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/playbyplay?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Kalil Pimpleton<\/b> <\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for a 61-yard gain all the way down to the Aztec 14. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Chippewas however stalled after a penalty and two incompletions. That led to a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/playbyplay?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Ryan Tice<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 33-yard field goal making it 7-3.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Later on in the second quarter, the Aztec defense made their second big stop of the day.\u00a0 With the Aztecs up 13-3, Dormady and the Chippewas needed a momentum booster. However, Dormady overthrew his receiver and was picked off by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/playbyplay?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Traiq Thompson.\u00a0 <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One offensive play later, Agnew threw another great pass, this one a 74-yard pass to Matthews for the second time. The score was now 20-3 and Central Michigan needed something to happen quick.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They got the ball before the half looking for at least a field goal to narrow the gap. They were moving downfield\u00a0 thanks to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the San Diego State defense and the offense started to drive.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dormady threw a nice pass <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/playbyplay?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>JaCorey Sullivan<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for 21-yards.\u00a0 But a few plays later, Dormady\u00a0 threw a pick to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/playbyplay?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Luq Barcoo <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">making it the Aztecs ball and now Central Michigan had to rely on their defense and second half adjustments.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Second Half<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Second half was just a sequel to the first half.\u00a0 The Chippewa defense originally stopped the Aztec offense, but were called for pass interference making it a new set of downs for San Diego State.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Running back <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/playbyplay?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Jordan Byrd<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> rushed for a four yard gain to the Central Michigan two and pushed it in for a two yard touchdown.\u00a0 The score was now 27-3.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After a good defensive stop and a Central Michigan Punt, the Aztecs continued to run up the score.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agnew would drop back with pressure in his face, finding\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/playbyplay?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>TJ Sullivan<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who made a spectacular left-handed grab in the endzone.\u00a0 The score would now be 34-3 and at this point, the game was in the hands of the Aztecs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Central Michigan scored a touchdown for the first time once they got the ball back.\u00a0 After a few plays, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/playbyplay?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Kobe Lewis<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> had enough and turned on the jets, taking it 66 yards.\u00a0 Dormady found Pimpleton for the two point conversion making it 34-11.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After an interception by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/playbyplay?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Alonzo McCoy<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Central Michigan seemed to have a shot to get another touchdown to make it a three possession game.\u00a0 However, they turned it over on downs ending their hopes of a comeback.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Aztecs scored two more touchdowns.\u00a0 The first was a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/playbyplay?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Chase Jasmin<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> two yard run, and the second happened when <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/playbyplay?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Kobe Lewis<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> fumbled and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/playbyplay?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Darren Hall<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> returned it for a 20 yard touchdown.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In their first ever meeting, the Aztecs had the advantage throughout the whole game.\u00a0 San Diego State would beat Central Michigan 48-11.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Central Michigan Stats\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Chippewas offense struggled most of the time they had their hands on the ball.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dormady finished 11 of 26 with 164 passing yards, no touchdowns, three interceptions and a rating of 5.5.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kobe Lewis only had five carries in the game, and his highlight was the 66 yard run.\u00a0 He rushed for 97 yards and one touchdown.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Senior <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/boxscore?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Jonathan Ward<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> had nine carries for 26 yards.\u00a0 Senior QB <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/boxscore?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Tommy Lazzaro<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> got some playing time and had three carries for five yards.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wide receivers Kalil Pimpleton, <\/span><b>Tyrone Scott<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Jacoby Sullivan and <\/span><b>Mark Patritto<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> combined for 149 yards receiving.\u00a0 Tight end Bernhard Raimann had one reception for nine yards.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Senior <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/boxscore?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Da\u2019Quaun Jaminson<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> had seven total tackles on defense.\u00a0 In total, the defense had 72 total tackles, one sack, two pass deflections and three quarterback hurries.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The player who made the sack was linebacker <\/span><b>George Douglas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 This was the sophomores second sack of the season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">San Diego State Stats\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Aztecs were hard to stop on offense.\u00a0 Every time they got the ball, fans knew that they would have the best chance of scoring.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agnew was 18\/31 for 287 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.\u00a0 Jordan Byrd rushed for 139 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Junior Chase Jasmin had 51 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown.\u00a0 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/boxscore?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Kaegun Williams<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Chance Bell <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">combined for nine carries and 45 yards rushing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rushing game was a concern with <\/span><b>Juwan Washington<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> out because of his ankle, but the backs proved that they can run just as fast and powerful as Washington can.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/boxscore?gameId=401135263\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Jesse Matthews<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> had the highest receiving yards.\u00a0 He had 111 yards with three receptions.\u00a0 TJ Sullivan had two receptions for 38 yards.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The San Diego State defense had 44 total tackles on defense, three sacks, four qb hurries and a touchdown.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conclusion\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">San Diego State finishes the season with a record of 10-3 and 5-3 tied with Hawaii in the Mountain West-West.\u00a0 Central Michigan finishes 8-6 and 6-2 in the Mid American West.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both teams finished the season with big time accomplishments.\u00a0 Now, they have signing day, and the off season to prepare them for the 2020 season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">San Diego State now is back to .500 in bowl games with a record of 9-9.\u00a0 Central Michigan has a record of 3-9 in bowl games.
