This year, we’ve seen two individuals dominate on the field and on the stat sheet. Justin Fields<\/a><\/strong> had one of the most efficient seasons at the quarterback position than we’ve ever seen. However, Joe Burrow<\/a><\/strong> has had an unbelievable senior season in a Tigers uniform. Now, let’s see where all of the candidates find themselves in our final 2019 Heisman rankings.<\/p>\n

Barring an upset of epic proportions, we’ll see Burrow walking away with the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night. But, we think each of the finalists has a compelling reason as to why they should take home the hardware. We know that Burrow, Fields, Jalen Hurts<\/a><\/strong>, and Chase Young<\/a><\/strong> were named finalists on Monday. But, all five are deserving. Let’s look at the case that each can make as we preview the final 2019 Heisman rankings.<\/p>\n

Making the case for Burrow:<\/h4>\n

Besides the eye-popping stats, Burrow has been incredibly consistent for the entire season without really a bad game throughout 2019. He will certainly end the season with more than 5,000 yards passing and likely more than 50 touchdowns passing. If there was any doubt heading into the last weekend of the season, Burrow silenced that talk with 349 passing and four touchdowns against the best defense in the SEC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making the case for Fields:<\/h4>\n

Fields continued his high-efficiency season with another 299 yards passing with three touchdowns through the air and no interceptions. For the season, he has 40 touchdowns through the air with just the one interception. To put that in perspective, we’ve not seen that level of touchdown to interception ratio in the history of college football. That makes this season the most efficient for a quarterback in the history of college football.<\/p>\n

Making the case for Hurts:<\/h4>\n

Hurts knock coming into the season was his inability to get the ball down the football field through the air. Evidenced by the best season of his career, Hurts threw 32 touchdown passes and accounted for nearly 4,900 total yards for the season which is over 1,200 more than Fields had. Hurts will likely end the season with the most rushing yards by an Oklahoma quarterback which is an impressive statistic given the history of wishbone quarterbacks at the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making the case for Young:<\/h4>\n

Young could very well change the way that we view defensive players for the Heisman Trophy. The fact that he received the invite to New York proves how dominant he has been. Even though the stats are staggering with 16.5 sacks and six forced fumbles on the season, it’s the attention that he demands that is equally as impressive. He completely changes the way the offense plays football with constant double and triple teams required to keep him from causing problems.<\/p>\n

Making the case for Hubbard:<\/h4>\n

Hubbard finished the season in the fifth spot in our rankings by holding off both Jonathan Taylor and J.K. Dobbins. The fact that Hubbard did so without playing in a conference championship game as well as being one of the proverbial blue-blood programs. He has had the best season in Stillwater for a running back not named Barry Sanders<\/a><\/strong>. Having a 2,000-yard season and carrying the Cowboys to a possible nine-win season proves that Hubbard might be more important to his team than any other in college football.<\/p>\n
