Number 15 Texas <\/span>travels to Fort Worth to play<\/span> unranked<\/span> TCU this Saturday in another Big XII matchup<\/span>. <\/span>The H<\/span>orned Frogs are favored by two-and-a-half points, likely due to the Longhorns narrowly escaping Kansas at home last week. <\/span>Texas dominates the o<\/span>verall record<\/span> between these two schools at 63-25-1. <\/span>TCU <\/span>leads Texas 5-2 since joining the Big XII. They have<\/span> won four of the<\/span>ir<\/span> last five games against Texas. T<\/span>he Longhorns <\/span>won last year <\/span>31-16.<\/span> Let’s take a closer look as we preview Texas at TCU.<\/span><\/p>\n

What To Expect From TCU<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

TCU has a 3-3 record <\/span>this season <\/span>including a loss to rival SMU. The Horned Frogs are coming off of a two-game losing streak on the road against Iowa State and Kansas State. They current<\/span>ly<\/span> rank sixth in the Big XII. TCU has <\/span>the <\/span>number one defense in the conference, allowing only 281 yards per game. <\/span>However, they didn\u2019t register a sack or even a tackle for loss last week against Kansas State. Their offense is led by true freshman quarterback Max Duggan<\/a><\/strong> who is hoping to spark a stagnant passing game. He averages 141 passing yards per game and has a completion percentage of 56%.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The State Of Texas<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Texas narrowly escaped Kansas at home last week in an offensive shootout that came down to a Cameron Dicker<\/a><\/strong> field goal in the final seconds. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>finished the game with 399 passing yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.\u00a0 He has now thrown for 2,057 yards this season with 21 touchdowns to only three interceptions. Of <\/span>Ehlinger<\/span> and the Texas offense, TCU head coach Gary Patterson<\/strong> says, \u201cHe\u2019s just a good player. He\u2019s a finisher. He\u2019s really grown <\/span>up,<\/span> he\u2019s been the difference in their offense. They have good skill players, they have their offensive line back, been banged up at running back so they\u2019ve kind of had it by committee, they\u2019ve gotten a couple wide receivers back, but he\u2019s really done a good job.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Longhorn defense, riddled with injuries, ranks 126 out of 130 in total passing defense. <\/span>They a<\/span>llowed 301 passing yards and four touchdowns through the air<\/span> against Kansas<\/span>. <\/span>Jayhawks<\/span> quarterback Carter Stanley<\/a><\/strong> posted season highs in total passing yards and touchdowns against Texas last week.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Injury Update<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Cornerback Jalen Green<\/a><\/strong> (shoulder) and safety BJ Foster<\/a><\/strong> (hamstring) are both practicing this week but remain questionable to start on Saturday. Safety Demarvion Overshown <\/a><\/strong>is being evaluated for a back injury. Safety Caden Sterns<\/a><\/strong> (knee) will not be available to play this week. Running back Jordan Whittington<\/a><\/strong> (torn adductor) is running but remains questionable against TCU.\u00a0 Additionally, wide receiver Brennan Eagles<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>is rumored to have<\/span> missed s<\/span>ome<\/span> practices this week due to personal reasons, and his status for Saturday remains unclear. <\/span>Head Coach Tom Herman<\/strong> has not publicly commented on Eagles this week. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Preview and Prediction<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Longhorns can expect to be challenged by defensive guru Gary Patterson in Fort Worth. Sam <\/span>Ehlinger<\/span> has <\/span>already sustained <\/span>22 sacks for the season, the most in the Big XII.\u00a0<\/span>With a mangled defense, the pressure will be on the <\/span>Texas<\/span> offense to pull off the win.<\/span>I expect strong performances by running backs Roschon Johnson<\/a><\/strong> and <\/span>Keontay Ingram<\/a> <\/strong>with a 31-24 Longhorn victory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
