This is another top ten matchup for the Florida Gators in consecutive weeks. Both teams come into this game with perfect records and hatred towards each other. Also, both are coming off of big wins. LSU defeated Utah State 42-6 and Florida beat the Auburn Tigers 24-13. This will be the first time Florida has played in Death Valley since 2016 in which Florida won and clinched the SEC East title. Florida also beat the Tigers last season 27-19. The Gators lead the all-time series versus LSU with a 33-29-3 record. Here is the Florida Gators versus LSU Tigers game preview.

LSU Tigers

The LSU Tigers are led by their head coach, Ed Orgeron, who’s in his fourth season as LSU’s head coach. The Tigers offense will also be led by their senior quarterback Joe Burrow. The Ohio State transfer has had a tremendous start to his senior season. Burrow has completed 78.4% of his passes for 1,864 yards, 22 touchdowns, and three interceptions. Junior running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire is lead back for the Tigers with 360 rushing yards on 65 carries for five touchdowns. The LSU offense has been on fire this season averaging 54.6 points per game. A big reason for that is because of their two star wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase. Jefferson leads LSU in receiving with 30 receptions for 547 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. Chase has 23 catches for 451 yards and six touchdowns.

On defense, the Tigers haven’t played to the level that they are accustomed to. Junior linebacker Jacob Phillips leads the Tigers in tackles with 40. Phillips also has three tackles for loss and a forced fumble. Safety Grant Delpit is one of the top safeties in the country and will be somebody to watch for this game. True freshman cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. leads the Tigers defense in interceptions with two on the year. Defensive end Neil Farrell Jr. has been very solid for the Tigers as he has 22 tackles with four tackles for loss, two sacks and four QB hurries.

Florida Gators

The Florida Gators will look to build off of an emotional win over the Auburn Tigers. The Florida Gators will be led by their head coach, Dan Mullen, who’s in his second season as Florida’s head coach. The former backup QB has looked sharp so far this season as he’s completed 72.2% of his passes for 902 yards and seven touchdowns and two interceptions. Trask also has two rushing touchdowns on the year. Florida got the run game going a little last game as Lamical Perine rushed for over 100 yards and scored. Freddie Swain is lead receiver for the Gators with 14 receptions for 301 yards and three touchdowns. Tight end Kyle Pitts has been huge for Florida with 25 catches for 254 yards and three touchdowns. Other offensive players to watch are Van Jefferson and Josh Hammond.

The Florida Gators defense has arguably been the best defense in the country and will try to keep it up against LSU. Florida’s defense gives up 9.5 points per game which is fifth in the country. They are tied for third in the nation in sacks with 26 on the season. Further, the unit is in first for most interceptions so far this season (12). Florida will also get back Jabari Zuniga who has been out since the Kentucky game. Louisville graduate transfer Jon Greenard has been solid with 28 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, seven QB hurries, a forced fumble and an interception.
