We’ve settled into week six of the college football season. Coming into this 2019 season, most believed that it was Clemson and Alabama at the top of the mountain with the rest of the country looking up. That’s proving not to be the case thus far. However, the next two weeks will tell us a lot about the landscape at the top of that mountain. With that, we give you our week six college football watch guide?<\/p>\n

Now, this week gives us three matchups in the top 25. But, a few of these matchups could set up gigantic playoff impactful games next weekend. For now, let’s take a look around the country with our week six college football watch guide.<\/p>\n

Saturday<\/h3>\n

11:00 AM<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>(14) Iowa at (19) Michigan \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/h4>\n

Okay, Michigan, we’re giving you one more chance. Since Jim Harbaugh<\/strong><\/a> came to Wolverine country, the nation has been on its proverbial heels. Alas, that has not come to fruition. This season has seen a similar story unfold after a bad loss to Wisconsin. Michigan can get back into the Big 10 race with a home win over a hot, top 15 Iowa club. If not, the seat may get a little warm in Ann Arbor and we’ll have a new contender to challenge Ohio State and Wisconsin with the Hawkeyes.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>(21) Oklahoma State at Texas Tech \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/h4>\n

Chuba Hubbard<\/strong><\/a> is the best running back in the country. Yes, we said it. With all due respect to Jonathan Taylor<\/strong><\/a> and Travis Etienne<\/strong><\/a>, this guy is on another level. Along with Spencer Sanders<\/strong><\/a> and Tylan Wallace<\/strong><\/a>, this is a very formidable offensive team. But, strange things seem to happen in Lubbock. After a dismal performance against Oklahoma last week, can the Red Raiders muster any sort of offensive attack? The Pokes should beware of the trap here.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>TCU at Iowa State \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/h4>\n

Hopes were high in Fort Worth this season because head coach Gary Patterson<\/strong><\/a> rarely has back to back poor teams. But, the quarterback play has not been solid and the Horned Frogs dropped a home game to SMU. Conversely, Iowa State is just a few points away from being 4-0. But, here they are at 2-2. The Cyclones cannot afford to be 0-2 in conference play even before facing Oklahoma and Texas so this is a must-win.<\/p>\n

2:30 PM<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>(7) Auburn at (10) Florida \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/h4>\n

The game of the weekend is in “The Swamp.” New Florida quarterback Kyle Trask<\/strong><\/a> has performed admirably taking over for Feleipe Franks<\/strong><\/a>. But, he’ll face his toughest test against one of the best defenses in the country. Meanwhile, Auburn is becoming more and more impressive each week and Bo Nix<\/strong><\/a> is steadily improving. A Gator win would set up a huge game in Death Valley next weekend. However, an Auburn win would loom large in the playoff committee’s mind with three quality away from home wins so early in the season.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>(11) Texas at West Virginia \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/h4>\n

Quietly, Sam Ehlinger<\/strong><\/a> has been one of the most efficient quarterbacks this season. He has improved in nearly every statistical category including 15 touchdown passes against only one interception. The Longhorns have needed every bit of that as the secondary is banged up. Now, West Virginia struggled early but has been improving as of late in back to back wins. Austin Kendall<\/strong><\/a> will need to have the best game of his career to get the upset.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Air Force at Navy \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/h4>\n

It’s always a special moment when we get a chance to put up a game with the service academies. Especially with such a key game for the commanders in chief trophy. Both teams appear to be pretty evenly matched in only dropping one game so far in the year. Air Force has already shown success on the road in defeating previously unbeaten Colorado in Boulder.<\/p>\n

6:00 PM<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>(3) Georgia at Tennessee \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/h4>\n

These two programs couldn’t be going in more opposite directions if they tried. Georgia was pushed in their last outing against Notre Dame and responded the way you think they would. However, the schedule does get a little tougher as they face Florida in Jacksonville and travel to Auburn. Meanwhile, the Volunteers are just trying to not let the ship completely sink. But, even teams in turmoil typically rally together for one outstanding performance on the season. Will this be it?<\/p>\n

6:30 PM<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>(25) Michigan State at (4) Ohio State \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/h4>\n

Ohio State has arguably looked like the best team in the country this season. Justin Fields<\/strong><\/a> is in the thick of the Heisman Trophy debate and the defense is playing much better than last year. However, as they host the Spartans they will face their toughest defensive challenge of the season. Michigan State had high hopes of a much improved offensive team, but that just hasn’t happened. Now, we have seen Sparty rally up and defeat a top-ranked Buckeye team in the horseshoe. Could history repeat itself?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Tulsa at (24) SMU \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/h4>\n

No need to adjust your eyes. That is indeed a national ranking next to SMU. For the first time post death penalty, the Mustangs are in the top 25. This has a chance to be this years version of UCF. They’ve got playmakers at each level of the offense with Shane Buechele<\/strong><\/a>, Xavier Jones<\/strong><\/a>, and James Proche<\/strong><\/a>. They’ll look to defend that ranking as the Golden Hurricane come calling. Tulsa is led by Baylor transfer Zach Smith<\/strong><\/a> and running back Shamari Brooks<\/strong><\/a>. They played Michigan State tough and led Oklahoma State midway through the third quarter.<\/p>\n

7:00 PM<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>California at (13) Oregon \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/h4>\n

The injury to Chase Garbers<\/strong><\/a> dealt a blow to California and also to the hype surrounding this game. Without the injury, we could have very well been looking at a top 15 matchup in this PAC 12 tilt. Be that as it may, perhaps this puts even more pressure on Oregon. The Ducks and Washington appear to be the only two members of this conference capable of making a playoff push. The Bears have a punishing defense which will have its hands full trying to contain the high octane offensive attack of Justin Herbert<\/strong><\/a> and company.<\/p>\n

9:30 PM<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>(15) Washington at Stanford \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/h4>\n

The Huskies might be positioned best to make a run at the playoffs by way of their schedule. After heading to the farm, Washington gets to host Oregon, Utah, and Washington State. Jacob Eason<\/strong><\/a> is performing well in his first year at Washington and the defense is as dominant as ever. Stanford has struggled early in the season with starting 2-3. They got a nice road win last weekend against Oregon State, but this is not the team Cardinal fans have come accustomed to. On paper, this looks like a mis-match but could we have some more PAC 12 after dark fireworks?<\/p>\n
