Both teams come into the game with a 2-2 record. Although many expected LSU to be a powerhouse in the SEC this season, things definitely haven’t gone their way. Missouri was expected to finish in the bottom half of the SEC East this season, and it seems as if that prediction will stand true. Missouri should have beaten Georgia two weeks ago, despite their defense being unable to stop the Bulldogs from scoring on the final drive to win the game. Last week, LSU lost to Auburn, and Les Miles was relieved of his head coaching duties the day following the game. Interim head coach Ed Orgeron has big plans for LSU, beginning with this match-up against Missouri.

Here are some keys to the game when each team has the ball:

When LSU has possession:

1. Danny Etling will air the ball out.

Etling came in to take the place of Brandon Harris during the Week 2 game against Jacksonville State. Since then, he has persistently been handing the ball off to the running backs, but throwing when necessary. Etling will finally be able to show the Tiger faithful his true capability when this game begins. I expect him to throw deep passes for his receivers to go up and catch.

2. The rushing attack will be more effective.

LSU has a tendency to run the ball a little too often. The backs get worn down, and finish with just over 200 yards combined for the game. Derrius Guice and Leonard Fournette both should get their fair share of carries in this game.

3. Receiving Corps will catch passes.

The LSU receivers had trouble against Auburn catching passes. This week, they should get their hands ready for throws and stay consistent with their receptions. Malachi Dupre and DJ Chark have to keep control of the ball in order for the Tigers offense to open up.

When Missouri has possession

1. Drew Lock has to be ready for the environment.
Missouri will experience a different environment on Saturday night. Lock has to be primed and ready to play in hostile territory to keep his composure at a high rate.

2. Mizzou’s entire offense needs to be proven.

This offense has not shown much so far into the season. Yes, they put up 27 points on Georgia, but still lost. From their looks, the offensive side of the ball calls for major improvement.

3. High-paced attack.

Missouri likes to run a high paced offense. That can sometimes hurt them against great defenses, especially in the SEC. LSU has a defense that is capable of holding a team like Missouri to a few amount of points.

This game will be a must-win for both teams. For LSU, it would help Orgeron maintain his position, and potentially become the head coach. As for Missouri. this win would solidify their place in the SEC East. With both teams playing in such a pivotal conference, this game has somewhat high expectations.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

Week 5 of the 2016 college football season for the LSU Tigers brings along a match-up with the Missouri Tigers.
