Jimbo Fisher has his quarterback of the future in James Foster<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The four-star prospect announced on National Signing Day that he’s heading to College Station to play for the Aggies. He’s the first quarterback in Texas A&M’s 2018 recruiting class.<\/p>\n

Ranked as the nation’s No. 12<\/a> dual-threat quarterback by 247Sports, Foster chose the Aggies over Florida State, LSU, Auburn, and Alabama.<\/p>\n

“A guy like James Foster is a talent,” Tom Luginbill of ESPN said to Noles247<\/a>. “He’s a thrower that happens to be a good enough athlete, very similar to Deondre Francois. You can do the plus-one, quarterback-run stuff. But he is going to be a passer first. And you don’t have to play with him right away.”<\/p>\n

The Montgomery, Alabama native threw for 2,912 yards with 31 touchdowns and only three interceptions last season at Lanier High School. He also rushed for 503 yards and 11 scores.<\/p>\n

“These last two years, we’ve made sure he’s played from shoulder up,” Lanier head coach Marvin Cunningham told the Montgomery Advertiser<\/a>. “We didn’t want him to play on ability. We wanted him to play on his cerebral mindset and he did that.”<\/p>\n

His outstanding play helped the Poets go 10-2 and win their first Class 6A playoff game since 2006.<\/p>\n

Foster completed his high school career by playing in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Elite 11 finalist<\/a> becomes Texas A&M’s ninth four-star recruit in the class<\/a>\u00a0and their first at quarterback.<\/p>\n

With the uncertainty around the quarterback position for the Aggies, the state of Alabama’s tenth-best<\/a> player can find himself playing meaningful snaps this fall.<\/p>\n

He joins rising sophomores Kellen Mond<\/a> and Nick Starkel<\/a>\u00a0as signal-callers vying for the starting job.<\/p>\n

Foster has the talent to lead Texas A&M to championships. As Jimbo Fisher’s era begins, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound quarterback can be the answer under center for years to come.<\/p>\n
