{"id":10806,"date":"2017-11-22T09:10:47","date_gmt":"2017-11-22T14:10:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lwosoncfb.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/?p=10806"},"modified":"2018-01-08T12:08:08","modified_gmt":"2018-01-08T17:08:08","slug":"braylon-edwards-suggests-okorn-lose-scholarship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/collegefootball\/2017\/11\/22\/braylon-edwards-suggests-okorn-lose-scholarship\/","title":{"rendered":"Braylon Edwards Questions O\u2019Korn&#8217;s Scholarship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the third quarter of Michigan\u2019s loss to Wisconsin, Wisconsin linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel knocked Michigan quarterback Brandon Peters unconscious.\u00a0 Remaining on the ground for several moments, medical staff eventually carted Peters off the field.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freep.com\/story\/sports\/college\/university-michigan\/wolverines\/2017\/11\/19\/michigan-qb-brandon-peters-knocked-unconcsious-vs-wiscounclear-ohio-state-after-brandon-peters-injur\/878669001\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Initial CT scans on Peters at the University of Wisconsin hospital reportedly came back\u00a0 negative.<\/a>\u00a0This eventually led to a prominent former Wolverine publicly questioning O&#8217;Korn&#8217;s scholarship status.<\/p>\n<p>In his place, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh inserted former starter John O\u2019Korn.\u00a0 Things unfortunately did not go well for O\u2019Korn. Any momentum the Wolverines had before Peters\u2019 injury evaporated with his departure. O\u2019Korn went two for eight for only 18 yards.\u00a0 Michigan fell to 5-2 in the conference and 8-3 overall.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Edwards Questions O&#8217;Korn Scholarship Status<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>While O\u2019Korn struggled, former Michigan wide-receiver Braylon Edwards tweeted. \u201cGet Okorn out of there,\u201d he tweeted.\u201d Geez Louise.\u201d\u00a0 A few minutes later he followed with \u201cWtf approved his scholarship and transfer?????\u201d\u00a0 He later deleted both tweets.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.landof10.com\/michigan\/michigan-football-john-okorn-braylon-edwards\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">For his part, O&#8217;Korn responded \u201cNot surprising that those with a history of mistakes LOVE to publicly criticize others so they can stay relevant. Just an observation&#8230;\u201d<\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0Some might call this a petty response to Edwards&#8217; unprofessional response.\u00a0 Many gave O&#8217;Korn a pass given his youth and recent ascension to the spotlight.\u00a0 However, these factors make Edwards&#8217; comments perplexing. He played for the Wolverines and spent nearly a decade in the NFL.\u00a0 Edwards must understand the pressure O&#8217;Korn faces.<\/p>\n<p>Unsurprisingly, this did not sit well with many current Michigan players.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/college\/michigan\/Bolt\/Michigans-Khalid-Hill-calls-out-Braylon-Edwards-on-Twitter-110738283\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Running back Khalil Hill advised Edwards: &#8220;aye, delete this..&#8221;.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0This reaction is commensurate with the mantra of family and teamwork preached by Harbaugh.\u00a0 The reaction from the rest of the team should be heartening, not only for O&#8217;Korn, but also for the coaching staff and fans, as it shows the kind of camaraderie is a key ingredient for long-term success.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Edwards Tweets His Own Defense<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Eventually, Edwards stated that his comments were part of his current job as an analyst.
