Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators coaching staff have signed one of their top defensive back commits. Three-star cornerback Avery Helm has signed his NLI to the University of Florida. This is a good signing for Florida as he was a tough get with other top programs in the mix. Mullen likes Helm’s skill set as he’s a nice fit and can really make an impact on the Florida Gators defense in the future. Helm is one out of four cornerbacks that’ll sign in the Florida Gators 2020 recruiting class with Ethan Pouncey, Fenley Graham, and Jahari Rogers.
Who is Avery Helm?
Helm is a three-star cornerback out of Fort Bend Marshall High School in Missouri City, Texas. The Florida cornerback commit is one of the top cornerbacks in the country. He was a tough get for the Gators as Helm had offers from some elite programs. Helm was a top-ranked recruit when Florida landed him over the summer. Helm signed with Florida over Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Utah.
First, on 247 Sports, Helm is the 317th ranked recruit and the 25th ranked cornerback in the country. Comparatively, on ESPN, Helm is the 68th ranked recruit in Texas and the 36th ranked cornerback in the country. The Gators have added a solid cornerback who could really make an impact in the future. However, being an early signee, Helm is locked in the Florida Gators 2020 recruiting class.
