Kentucky Wildcats 2019 Recruiting Profile Moses Douglass

Kentucky Wildcats 2019 Recruiting Profile Moses Douglass

One of the first players committing to Mark Stoops and the Wildcats is a name familiar to True Blue Fans. Moses Douglass, a six foot two safety from Springfield, Ohio announced his college choice back on March 31st.

Douglass is the son of former Wildcat Maurice Douglass, who played for the Cats in 1984 and 1985. The 1984 club went 9-3, the last time until this season a Kentucky team won nine games. He had five career interceptions playing under head coach Jerry Claiborne. Following his stay at Kentucky he was drafted in the eighth round of the 1986 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. The elder Douglass coached his son at Springfield High School.

He is the latest in the pipeline from the Buckeye State to Kentucky under Stoops and lead recruiter Vince Marrow. Currently the Wildcats recruiting class ranks 28th in the nation according to Rivals and 12th in the Southeastern Conference. Three of the 21 pledges come from Ohio.

The four star player ranks as the 17th best safety in the country by Rivals and the 227th best prospect overall. As a result Douglass had almost thirty offers from colleges. He ultimately chose Kentucky over Michigan, Michigan State, Tennessee and West Virginia.

How He Fits In At Kentucky

Following the 2018 season the Wildcats lose Mike Edwards, and Darius West. They are both seniors with a wealth of experience. As a result Douglass will be able to come in and compete for immediate playing time. Especially with the new NCAA rule where a player can participate in up to four games and still keep a red shirt.
