Hometown Kid Keaton Ellis Signs with Penn State

Hometown kid Keaton Ellis signs with Penn State. Ellis adds speed and agility to an inexperienced secondary. He is a four-star cornerback recruit, per 247Sports composite rankings. Ellis helped lead the State College Little Lions to the Pennsylvania State Semi-Finals a month ago. He did so while playing on both sides of the ball. Ellis is also likely to enroll at Penn State early in January.

Who is Keaton Ellis?

Keaton Ellis is fast, agile, and athletic. When you start to watch Ellis on the field, and off, he will likely remind you of KJ Hamler. He is quick, all over the field, and has good football awareness. Further, off the field he is light-hearted and funny, at least that’s the word around State College Area High School. He will bring a spark to the Nittany Lion secondary that will be relatively inexperienced entering the 2019 season. Ellis will join fellow early signee, Joey Porter Jr. in a secondary that loses Amani Oruwariye and captain Nick Scott to graduation. With the loss of two veterans, Ellis will have John Reid and Tariq Castro-Fields to learn from before stepping on the field for the Nittany Lions.

Ellis is living every hometown kid’s dream. Signing with a power five team in your backyard is a dream come true, but he is not the first to do so. Former Penn State great and current New York Giants linebacker, Nate Stupar did the same thing in 2007. It is not often that a hometown kid can make the transition from high school football hero, to college football great, but Ellis is that player.
