This is a big signing for the Gators as Huggins is one of the versatile defensive backs in the Florida Gators class. Florida head coach Dan Mullen has added a big safety that can really make a huge impact on the Florida Gators defense. The Gators are in need of safeties as they really struggled last season without Marcell Harris and Marcus Maye. Russell is one of third safeties that is signing with Florida Gators alongside with Amari Burney and Randy Russell.
Who is John Huggins?
John Huggins is a four-star S out of Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Florida S commit is one of the top safeties in the country. He was a tough get for the Gators as Florida had to battle with Florida State for the South Floridian. Huggins really took off in recruiting when he had a terrific senior season with the Mainland Buccaneers. Huggins chose Florida over Florida State, Miami and Nebraska.
On Rivals, Huggins is a four-star recruit and the 72nd ranked recruit in the state of Florida. On to ESPN, Huggins is the 63rd ranked recruit in the state of Florida and the 23rd ranked safety in the country. The Gators have added a really solid safety who could really make an impact in the upcoming season. Florida is in severe need of defensive backs and Huggins is the classic all-around back that can help at safety or cornerback.
