A few notes to hit on before we get into this week’s CFL fantasy breakdown. Zach Collaros will be getting the nod at quarterback for the Blue Bombers. As we already know, Matt Nichols has been on the IR since undergoing shoulder surgery. Chris Streveler, Nichols’ dual-threat replacement, will also be out this week with an ankle injury. We will see if Collaros is up to the task. The return of both C.J. Gable and Derel Walker should also be monitored. As it looks now, it seems Walker plays with Gable’s status still up in the air.
QUARTERBACK
Dane Evans
DraftKings = $9,200/$50,000
TSN = $9,697/$40,000
For some reason, Dane Evans is near the bottom in terms of quarterback pricing this week on both sites. Evans is too cheap given both his production so far this season and his juicy matchup with Montreal. He has not scored under 20 CFL fantasy points since Week 11. It also helps that he has one of the best skill position groupings at his disposal in Brandon Banks and Bralon Addison (and Luke Tasker when healthy). Expect a shootout with this game environment and Vernon Adams Jr. on the other side.
Other Notes
Trevor Harris is slated to return this week and with that comes a depressing salary. He is the third-priced quarterback on TSN but is below the $9,000 threshold on DraftKings. We know what Trevor Harris is capable of, especially in terms of putting up fantasy points. This could be your only opportunity to roster him at this bargain.
RUNNING BACK
Tyrell Sutton
DraftKings = $6,000/$50,000
TSN = $6,108/$40,000
Tyrell Sutton seized control of the Tiger-Cats backfield last week rushing 13 times for 85 yards and catching four balls for 64 yards. While the Tiger-Cats passing game benefits from this matchup, the running game also gets a solid boost as well. The Alouettes have improved their ground defense slightly, but let’s not forget the string of five weeks where they allowed opposing rushers to eclipse the 100-yard mark. Sutton’s price remains affordable, and it has come down on TSN.
Other Notes
It is a must-roster Andrew Harris week. He will not have Chris Streveler eating into his carries and production with Zach Collaros under center this week. Collaros may also rely on Harris with some easy throws to get comfortable. Harris hasn’t exactly been the example of production over the past weeks but this looks like the perfect opportunity to get back on track.
WIDE RECEIVER
Hamilton Tiger-Cats Receivers
It’s the obvious here, but using the Tiger-Cats receivers in fantasy has been a solid strategy this season. This week is shaping up to be no different, especially if Luke Tasker is unable to go yet again. If Tasker does miss, going with the three-headed monster of Evans, Banks and Addison would be in your best interest. It is an expensive investment, but one that has proven worthwhile this season.
DEFENCE
Toronto Argonauts
DraftKings = $4,000/$50,000
TSN = $3,200/$40,000
With it shaping up to be a pricey week positionally, we may just have to punt defence. With that, there are the Toronto Argonauts. The Argonauts have a home matchup with the Ottawa Redblacks this week so you could find worse options. Just a couple of games ago, both of these teams squared off and Toronto was able to generate three interceptions and four sacks.
