Only a few weeks of CFL Fantasy remain before the playoffs get underway! In Week 19 we have a full four-game slate to digest. It is full speed ahead from here on in. A few notes before we get into the fun stuff. Mike Reilly’s season is unfortunately over, due to a wrist injury. Danny O’Brien will likely be taking over the quarterbacking for the Lions the rest of the way. Some other notable injuries ahead of this slate include Argonauts receiver Derel Walker and Lions receiver Lemar Durant. They will both be absent from action this week.
DraftKings = $8,800/$50,000
TSN = $8,563/$40,000
McLeod Bethel-Thompson returned to his starting job last week and did not disappoint. He posted two touchdowns and 300 yards on 36 attempts against the Ottawa Redblacks. This week he will look to keep it going against a team that he previously shredded this season. In Week 11, Bethel-Thompson posted one of his best games of the season against these same Alouettes. He threw for well over 400 yards and added two scores. Oddly enough, Bethel-Thompson’s price on DraftKings went down. They are practically begging you to play him at the bargain price of $8,800.
DraftKings = $5,300/$50,000
TSN = $6,226/$40,000
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats running back situation has been a difficult one to pin down this season. That said, we’re going back to the well here. Tyrell Sutton was tabbed as the starter before the Tiger-Cats’ Week 18 bye. In their Week 17 game against the Eskimos Sutton rushed the ball 11 times for 88 yards and caught three passes for 23 yards. This time around he will get the opportunity to feast in a home matchup against the Ottawa Redblacks. The depth chart confusion has been tough to deal with, but Sutton appears to have the clearest shot at a starter’s workload.
DraftKings = $8,100/$50,000
TSN = $7,034/$40,000
This recommendation feels a bit like point chasing here, but there is some logic behind it. As mentioned above, Derel Walker will be on the shelf for this game which leaves a nice chunk of targets to be spread out among the rest of the Argonauts’ receivers. The guy who will see the biggest boost is S.J. Green. Green has been the epitome of a boom/bust play this season, but the compressed target share should at least give a solid floor in this game. If you are looking to go even cheaper, Armanti Edwards found the end zone twice last week and should be involved yet again in this game.
DraftKings = $4,900/$50,000
TSN = $5,786/$40,000
Paying up for defence is never my style in CFL Fantasy, but these picks allow you the luxury to do so. The Roughriders will be going on the road to face a Lions team who will be down Mike Reilly. Even with Reilly at the helm, this would have been a tough matchup for the Lions. Now with a backup quarterback under centre, the Roughriders could potentially tee off in this spot. There are no issues slotting in the second-highest priced defence on both sites this week.
