We have a small three-game slate on hand for this week’s CFL action. Friday’s matchup features two of the worst teams in the league, but the weekend spells better play. The Tiger-Cats go on the road to Calgary to face Bo Levi Mitchell and the Stampeders. The last game of the week features an interesting matchup between the Alouettes and Roughriders. Let’s take a look at some players to target given the limited CFL fantasy options this week.
QUARTERBACK
Cody Fajardo
DraftKings = $9,900/$50,000
TSN = $7,870/$40,000
Cody Fajardo has hit a bit of a rough patch here in this part of the season. His scores have been serviceable, but he hasn’t had too many ceiling games recently. I would look for him to pick things back up here against this Montreal defence. Fajardo always brings a solid floor to the table with his rushing upside, and he is always a candidate to punch one in himself. The thing with Fajardo is it is always tough to pin down who to pair him with. He likes to spread the ball around which means it is probably just playing him as a stand-alone instead of trying to force one of his receivers in.
Other Notes
Mike Reilly is cheap on DraftKings, and I totally get it if you think he can have a good game here against Ottawa. This Lions team hasn’t exactly done him any favours though. If you are willing to pay down this week, Reilly looks like your guy on DraftKings.
RUNNINGBACK
William Stanback
Draftkings = $8,600/$50,000
TSN = $8,346/$40,000
The Roughriders have gotten torched in back to back weeks against Winnipeg. This could open the door for a William Stanback themed gameplan for the Alouettes here. Stanback has been getting his usual volume but has been a bit quiet from a boxscore standpoint. That could change here. I think he is a safe bet for at least double-digit CFL fantasy points.
Other Notes
Jackson Bennett was awesome when given the number one running back role for the Tiger-Cats. He rushed 12 times for 77 yards and caught three balls for 28 yards. It is worth noting that the Tiger-Cats signed Tyrell Sutton to go along with Bennett, but if you think he can keep a stranglehold the job, he is a great option here. The road matchup against Calgary is a bit discouraging, but the price may be too cheap for his role.
WIDE RECEIVER
Bryan Burnham
Draftkings = $8,700/$50,000
TSN = $9,413/$40,000
Burnham has been one of the bright spots for this Lions team. He and Reilly seem to have developed a nice connection as the season has progressed. Burnham has gone for over double-digit CFL fantasy in all but two games this season. He has also eclipsed the 20 point mark four times, with one of those performances also breaking the 30 point threshold. I think Reilly and Burnham is an interesting low owned stack to attack this slate with.
DEFENCE
BC Lions
Draftkings = $3,800/$50,000
TSN = $3,200/$40,000
I am actually on board with completely punting defence on both sites this week. I am not a huge fan of any of the higher-priced options so I thought it better to pay down here and see what better position players I could get for doing so. The Lions will welcome former quarterback Johnathan Jennings back into town this week.
I am sure he will have a little chip on his shoulder, but he will be without top receiving threat Brad Sinopoli here. While this makes guys like Dominique Rhymes and R.J. Harris intriguing, I think the better play is the Lions defence. Know one will know him better than his former team.
