If you had the choice of the following three players, which would you most want to build a team around? For this scenario we'll say they're all the 2020 versions of themselves. You're about to sign them to a 10+ year deal. Your goal is to win a title before the other two players. Who are you taking?

Age has to be a factor here. So my thinking is this:

I would not want to be responsible for paying a 36 year old Siakam

I would not want to pay an NBA player who cannot shoot outside of 12 feet.

Give me the 22 year old Tatum.

I completely agree. It also helps that I'm a Celtics fan, but still. I think his age and skillset make him one of the most valuable young players in the NBA moving forward.

I would pick Pascal Siakam as his performances have grown by quite a lot since he entered the NBA. He is also the only player of the three to win an NBA Championship, so he knows what it takes.

In terms of a ten-year deal I think Tatum is the best option. I do believe that Siakam would win a title before Tatum though. Simmons hasn't show he's willing to improve, so I'd steer clear of him.

Simmons has the most potential IMO but his shooting is just too big of a weakness and Siakam is already 26 so I'm going with Tatum. He's the youngest of the bunch and is arguably already the best of the three.

Definitely Tatum. Simmons has only shown growth as a top tier defender, his offense still remains very stagnant. Siakam and Tatum its very close, however Tatum is a significantly better defender and has already performed well at the highest level in the NBA playoffs.

Sigh...Its Tatum. As a Sixers fan, I can honestly say I've seen enough of Ben to know that right now, he's not a guy to build a team around. He has to want it and maybe it's just the team and him wanting to play elsewhere, but I haven't seen enough from him that tells me he wants to be the cornerstone. I hope I'm wrong. Time will tell. But the Sixers not taking Tatum #1 and taking Fultz instead feels like a decision that is going to haunt this franchise every time we have to face up against Boston.
