Title: Braves vs Dodgers - NLCS Thread
Post by: LWOS_Marilee on October 09, 2020, 11:00:53 am
The race for the pennant is on. Both these teams have yet to lose in the playoffs this year. Atlanta has done so with great pitching and LA has turned to their next level lineup. Predictions on who wins this series and other thoughts? Share below!

Oh definitely. I'm just curious to see which will break first. The Dodgers offense or the Braves pitching. I can't believe they have four shut outs in five games. Incredible. This should be a really good series.

Agreed on pitching match-ups. Going to be a really fun series. I think Atlanta can play up to Dodgers level to keep this close

It's so weird seeing fans at games but honestly, I love seeing so many people repping teams all around the league. It's almost like, if you wanted to go see a game and could drive to Texas, you did for this game.

Smith could not have made a better throw on the Swanson stolen base.

Classic playoff pitching duel. Save for one bad pitch to Freeman, both these guys are looking as advertised.

This is literally the story of two bad pitches and that's it. I love a good pitching duel!

Bold call though pulling Buehler. Guess they didn't like what they saw with his location heading into the 3rd time through the order. Crazy to see a guy pulled after giving up just 3 hits and one run (the 5 walks weren't great). But you get the sense in this one that not many more runs are gonna be scored for sure. Still not sure I'd have made that call but I'm not a MLB manager lol.

LA kept fighting into the 9th but that early deficit hurt. Braves are in a great place to win this series now. Though, I'd far from count the Dodgers out. But this is the most LA has had to struggle all season so we'll see their ability to mount a comeback.

The Dodgers definitely aren't going to lay down and give up just yet. They'll fight until the very end even during Game Three tomorrow (Wednesday) with Julio Urias on the mound. If the Braves win tomorrow and it comes down to Game Four being the elimination game, Clayton Kershaw will have a lot of pressure riding on him Thursday. That's *IF* he is healthy and able to make that start.

Yeah Kershaw being pulled was certainly an unexpected blow esp the way he's pitched this postseason which is a far cry from those struggles hes consistently had in the past.

Wow the Dodgers got after it in that first inning! Feel bad for the rookie. That home run from Rios was destroyed.

Don't worry. At this rate, you'll still see 10 runs scored plus the 15 they already have lol

This may be the kind of game that flips momentum. I wouldn't mind honestly. Kershaw deserves a ring at some point.

I hate the Braves and last thing I want to see is another NL East team win the pennant in back-to-back years, so yes, I would welcome this being a momentum shifter. But the Dodgers still have to face Fried in a potential game seven so we'll see if that momentum can carry through to one of the best pitchers in baseball who just so happens to be pitching exceptionally well in the postseason too.

Dave Roberts has no idea how to manage Kershaw in the postseason. Under no circumstances should he have faced Ozuna with a runner on second after giving up the go-ahead run.

Fried will pitch Game Six. Anderson Game Seven

Ah, so Dodgers will get eliminated in sox games then lol. I just don't see them beating Max. If they do, I don't think they beat Ian too. That's one heck of a one-two punch.

In a big game, Kershaw came up small again. Do we blame this on the back or is the criticism of him fair, of not being a good postseason pitcher?

Kershaw's been good in the past, too.

Looks like its Buehler vs Fried Rd 2 in game six. Who do you think has the edge this time around? My money is still with Fried.

Corey Seager. 5 HR in the 6 game LCS so far. Geez. First blemish on Fried in the early going and huge for LA to get off to a lead.

And as I write this, Turner adds another.

That inning by Buehler made all the difference. After he got out of it, I said the Dodgers were gonna win not just that game but the series too.

Brutal baserunning from the Braves there... Can't believe he even ran on a ball to the 3B... Then the follow up was even worse. Dodgers could make them pay for that.

With him and Fried, the Braves definitely have some nice pieces in their rotation to build off of. This won't be a one-and-done LCS for them I imagine.
