It would be interesting to know how old-school closers who usually went multiple innings would fare in style of one-inning closers.

Look back at someone like Rollie Fingers. Over the 1977-78 seasons, he had 72 saves (leading the NL each year), but pitched 239.2 innings over 145 appearances. Almost 1 2/3 innings per outing.

Rivera, conversely, pitched in 136 games in the 2004-05 seasons, when he led the AL in games finished each year. He had 96 saves in 157 innings. Just a little more than 1 inning per outing.

If Fingers worked the same number of innings, would have been interesting to see how many saves or type of stats he could have put up.
