Online sports betting in Louisiana is finally here!
After months of speculation as to when the state of Louisiana would transition from legal casino betting into world of online sports betting, we finally have a big announcement to make.
Legal Louisiana online sports betting is now live! It launched on Friday, Jan. 28 at 8 a.m. CST. The launch date comes after Louisiana’s sports betting regulation bill was signed into law by Gov. John Bel Edwards in June 2021, allowing as many as 41 mobile operators to enter the state. Six sportsbooks were approved to go live on Day 1, and more sportsbooks are working to be approved soon.
Now that you can legally jump into the online sports betting world in Louisiana, we're here to cover what operators have launched and the best bonuses that are available. As always, we have all the information you need and bonuses on tap for you to profit.
What operators have launched?
Retail sportsbooks were joined by mobile sportsbooks following their launch on January 28, 2022. FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars, BetMGM, BetRivers, and Barstool got the party started and are expected to be joined by various others. Which online sportsbooks will factor in Louisiana? Let’s have a look.
Seven different companies own all 19 casinos currently in the state. Most of them are major, publicly traded companies that have a sportsbook or have partnered with sportsbook operators in other states.
BetMGM was of course in prime position for a Day 1 launch since the Louisiana Gaming Control Board has given the nod. BetMGM was prepared with a pre-launch code, and has since continued to be at the forefront of online betting in Louisiana. As displayed on the BetMGM website, new customers who register right now can redeem $200 worth of free bets. This offer has been confirmed. You can use our BetMGM bonus code WABPLAY when you sign up to land some free bankroll!
DraftKings is another huge brand in the USA. They have been expanding like no other, largely thanks to strategic partnerships and a pretty significant financial base to help their expansion efforts. Speaking of expansion, DraftKings has been confirmed to be targeting the Louisiana online sports betting market. And currently, much like BetMGM, DraftKings issued a pre-launch welcome bonus. With your deposit from our link, brand new customers are entitled to $1,000 worth of free bets. If you want more offers, read through our details DraftKings Review.
Caesars Sportsbook is another site that launched on Friday, January 28th. And like all of the other brands we have mentioned here, Caesars had a pre-launch welcome bonus available. This is the largest welcome bonus of any other brand entering the Louisiana sports betting market. Currently, Caesars Sportsbook is offering up to $1,100 in first bet insurance as a sign-up offer.
FanDuel is on a par with brands like DraftKings in terms of prestige and popularity. These guys are already operating in many states around the nation. And historically speaking, FanDuel has been quick to act when states have changed their online sports betting laws. This is a major reason why FanDuel launched Day 1, as they haven't wasted any time in other states. Using our code, new customers can bag $100 in free bet credits after registering.
We weren't sure if WynnBet Louisiana would be ready to go on Day 1, but the trusted sportsbook was able to earn their license by mid-February. Louisiana Gaming Control Board Chairman Ronnie Johns signed the online Louisiana sports betting license for WynnBET on February 10th, 2022. Register for WynnBET Louisiana, make a qualifying deposit, and wager to receive $200 in free bets!
Other potential brand launches for Louisiana sports betting
Now that we have given you a Louisiana sports betting update, by highlighting some of the operators to have already launched, we’d like to highlight even more positive news. The Louisiana Gaming Control Board is continuing to green-light more online sportsbooks to go live. Now, we have chosen to focus on the four operators that have launched. But when you do the math, it's obvious that other operators will enter the game.
So, who exactly are these operators and why do we believe that they could also emerge? This is discussed below.
Golden Nugget is a relatively smaller sportsbook compared to other platforms, but it still has a lot to offer. The Golden Nugget Casino & Hotel gives the brand name recognition in Louisiana, and the mobile app is a quality platform that presents a wide variety of bets for users to consider. While there is no official launch date, we expect the Golden Nugget Sportsbook Louisiana app to be live in the state shortly after mobile betting is given the green light. In preparation for launch, Golden Nugget Sportsbook Louisiana is offering new users who sign up for an account a great bonus that involves up to a $250 free bet. The app is already live in five states: MI, NJ, NV, VA & WV. It would also not be surprising to see a retail location for Golden Nugget Sportsbook at Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino.
What should you be betting on first?
At this point, we’ve answered the question of ‘is sports betting legal in Louisiana’ from an online and offline standpoint. And with mobile betting officially here, bettors are already thinking about what to wager on. Thanks to the timing of this launch, we have a couple of recommendations. On March 15, 2022, NCAA men's basketball tournament, AKA March Madness, will take place – a great option immediately!
And with the NBA playoffs not far away, we think that the operators that do launch will offer some great markets and bonuses for this event! Check this page to be updated on the latest.
