Using his prediction model, Hollinger looked at the over\/under win totals for NBA teams according to <a  href=\"https:\/\/sports.betmgm.com\/en\/sports\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BetMGM<\/a>. Here are the ten teams in the two articles that he highlighted.<\/p>\n<h2>Hollinger\u2019s NBA Teams That Will Exceed\/Fall Short Of Expectations<\/h2>\n<h3>Exceed Expectations<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/10\/01\/cleveland-cavaliers-starter-darius-garland-speaks-about-trade-rumors\/\" target=\"_self\">Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> (48.5 wins)<\/li>\n<li>Phoenix Suns (46.5 wins)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/10\/04\/2024-25-nba-betting-preview-okc-thunder-win-total-odds\/\" target=\"_self\">Oklahoma City Thunder<\/a> (56.5 wins)<\/li>\n<li>Atlanta Hawks (35.5 wins)<\/li>\n<li>Detroit Pistons (24.5 wins)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Better health may allow Cleveland to win at least 49 games in 2024-25. They went 48-34 last season, and that was with <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mobleev01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Evan Mobley<\/a> missing 32 games, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mitchdo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Donovan Mitchell<\/a> missing 27, and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/garlada01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Darius Garland<\/a> missing 25. They went 36-19 with Mitchell in the lineup and 12-15 without him.<\/p>\n<p>While the Suns look to be an improved team now that they have a true lead guard in <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jonesty01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tyus Jones<\/a>, the depth of the West leaves their over\/under win total looking low. Still, they won 49 games last season where a lot seemed to go wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Much like the Suns, Oklahoma City\u2019s over\/under win total seems low as the team looks improved on paper. They finished with a 57-25 record in 2023-24, and have added <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/carusal01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Caruso<\/a> along with <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/harteis01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Isaiah Hartenstein<\/a> in the offseason. The Thunder did go almost all of last season with their rotation pieces remaining healthy. Will they have that same health luck in 2024-25?<\/p>\n<p>Yes, there is less talent on Atlanta\u2019s roster after trading <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/murrade01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dejounte Murray<\/a> in the offseason. While true, it was also evident that the Murray\/<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/y\/youngtr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trae Young<\/a> backcourt pairing wasn\u2019t working out for the team. With a large drop-off in expectations after the projected top-eight in the Eastern Conference, perhaps the Hawks can beat up on bottom-feeders and allow them to reach the Play-In Tournament.<\/p>\n<p>After a miserable 14-win season in 2023-24, can the Pistons really win at least 11 more games in the upcoming season? Amazingly, Detroit hasn\u2019t won at least 25 games since the 2018-19 season (2019-20 season was a 66-game season, and 2020-21 season was 72). The team added some veterans this offseason to help out around <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/cunnica01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cade Cunningham<\/a> in <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/harrito02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tobias Harris<\/a>, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/beaslma01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Malik Beasley<\/a>, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/reedpa01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paul Reed<\/a>, and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hardati02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tim Hardaway Jr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Fall Short Of Expectations<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Washington Wizards (22.5 wins)<\/li>\n<li>Memphis Grizzlies (47.5 wins)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/10\/04\/nikola-jokics-timeline-emphasizes-clocks-ticking-for-nuggets\/\" target=\"_self\">Denver Nuggets<\/a> (51.5 wins)<\/li>\n<li>Charlotte Hornets (29.5 wins)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/10\/05\/2024-25-nba-betting-preview-la-clippers-win-total-odds\/\" target=\"_self\">Los Angeles Clippers<\/a> (41.5 wins*)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to predict a team to be 22-60 or worse. \u00a0The Wizards fell well short of that last season though, eclipsing the Pistons win total of 14 by just one game. They added a couple solid veterans in <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/brogdma01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Malcolm Brogdon<\/a> and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/v\/valanjo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jonas Valanciunas<\/a>, but there\u2019s a good chance that both get traded at some point.<\/p>\n<p>The Grizzlies averaged 53.5 wins in 2021-22 and 2022-23. Last season, they bottomed out to 27 wins with star point guard <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/moranja01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ja Morant<\/a> playing in just nine games. Again, with the West having so many tough teams, it can\u2019t just be assumed that Memphis will rebound to their previous heights.<\/p>\n<p>Denver won 57 games last season. A team that has three-time MVP <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jokicni01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nikola Jokic<\/a> will always have a high ceiling. The depth around Jokic has been lessened though after <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/caldwke01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kentavious Caldwell-Pope<\/a> left for the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/10\/01\/orlando-magic-remain-hopeful-to-extend-crucial-piece-jalen-suggs\/\" target=\"_self\">Orlando Magic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s likely as simple as this. If <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/ballla01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LaMelo Ball<\/a> can stay relatively healthy, he should provide enough to allow Charlotte to win at least 30 games. Can that be counted on though? The 23-year-old has combined to appear in only 58 games over the last two seasons.<\/p>\n<p>The Clippers were at 41.5 wins, but as Hollinger pointed out, <a  href=\"https:\/\/sports.betmgm.com\/en\/sports\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BetMGM<\/a> took their line off. Hollinger mentions that other sports books have the Clippers over\/under around 39.5. They were taken off due to the uncertainty surrounding <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/leonaka01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kawhi Leonard<\/a> and his injury recovery this offseason.
