Embiid missed half the season with injuries, but they still won 47 games and entered the NBA playoffs with a shot. They went under their projected <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/teams\/PHI\/2024.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">total<\/a> of 48.5. Maxey was able to step into a lead scoring role while Embiid missed time and had a breakout season. He averaged 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in 70 games above all, though he showed that he could be a young star to pair with Embiid during his prime. The addition of nine-time All-Star <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/georgpa01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paul George<\/a> has fueled optimism, creating an intriguing trio with Embiid and Maxey. Despite concerns over Embiid&#8217;s durability, the Sixers have outperformed their projected win total in three of the last four seasons. They\u2019ve only won more than 52 games once since <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/i\/iversal01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Allen Iverson<\/a>\u2019s 2000-01 MVP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/teams\/PHI\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">season<\/a>, and it was during Embiid\u2019s 2022-23 MVP campaign.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sixers depth chart has the talent to exceed the win total from two seasons ago. While the addition of George is monumental, the real difference maker for this season will be in how many games he and Embiid can play.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">George played 74 games last season, his highest since the 2018-19 season. Embiid won a <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/09\/04\/stephen-currys-team-usa-gold-medal-hasnt-really-sunk-in\/\" target=\"_self\">gold medal<\/a> with Team USA at the Paris Olympics, but the extra mileage of playing tournament basketball during the summer could come back to bite him.
